A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is on the slat/flap control lever.
   (4) Do the EIS start procedure (ECAM only) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001), then:
  • on the ECAM Control Panel (CP), push (in) the FUEL push icon switch
  • make sure that the FUEL page shows on the ECAM lower Display Unit (DU).
   (5) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel to get this fuel configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001):
  • the center tank contains more than 500 kg (1102 lb)
  • the applicable wing-tank outer-cell full
  • the applicable wing-tank inner-cell contains between 5000 kg (11023 lb) and 5500 kg (12125 lb).
NOTE: Make sure that the fuel in the center tank is kept above 500 kg (1102 lb) during the test procedure.

4. Procedure
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST STOP THE PUMPS WHEN THE LOW PRESSURE FAULT LIGHT(S) (ON PANEL 40VU) COME ON, TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE PUMPS(S) WITHOUT FUEL ('DRY RUNNING'). OPERATION OF THE PUMPS WITHOUT FUEL CAN CAUSE A FIRE.

A. Operational Test of the Center-Tank Pump Control by the Full/Under-full Level Sensors and FLSCUs Logic 2
ACTION
RESULT
For the left side pump control test, do the procedure that follows:

1.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 1 pushbutton switch.
  • Make sure that the CTR TK PUMP 2 pushbutton switch is released (out).
  • Push (in) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
  • Push (in) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 1 pushbutton switch goes off.
  • Make sure that the OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 2 is on.
  • The MAN light of the MODE SEL goes off.
  • The ON light (white) comes on.
  • The OPEN light (green) comes on (valve fully open).
2.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to DEFUEL/XFR position.
  • Set the left REFUEL VALVE switch to OPEN position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The OPEN light of the MODE SELECT comes on.
  • Fuel moves from the center tank to the left wing tank.
3.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT.
  • The CTR value decreases.
  • The LEFT value increases.
4.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set and hold the TEST switch to HI LVL.
  • The LEFT HI LVL light comes on.
  • Fuel movement stops.
  • The LEFT HI LVL light goes out.
5.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT:
  • Release the TEST switch.
  • The CTR value decreases.
  • The LEFT value increases.
  • Fill left wing to HI LVL.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Before 45 seconds, the CTR TK PUMP 1 symbol goes to green cross-line.
  • Fuel movement stops.

NOTE: If the center tank pump operates for more than 45 seconds, you can stop the test and troubleshoot the system (Ref. TSM Chapter 28). (This is to prevent a possible fuel spill from the left wing NACA vent).
  • Set the left REFUEL VALVE switch to SHUT.
  • The value becomes stable.
6.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the center REFUEL VALVE switch to OPEN position.

7.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switch.
  • The OFF light of the applicable L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 goes out and FAULT light comes on momentarily.
8.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT.
  • The LEFT value decreases.
  • The CTR value increases.
9.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT, until approximately 400 kg (882 lb) of fuel used.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 1 symbol goes to green in-line.
10.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 1 pushbutton switch.
  • Release (out) the applicable L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switch.
  • The OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 1 comes on.
  • The OFF light of the applicable L TK PUMPS 1 or 2 comes on.
  • The pump stops.
11.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the center REFUEL VALVE switch to SHUT position.

For the right side pump control test, do the procedure that follows:

CAUTION: BEFORE YOU CLOSE THE CROSSFEED VALVE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUEL PUMP(S) IS(ARE) OFF. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CROSSFEED VALVE.
12.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Push (in) the CTR TK PUMP 2 pushbutton switch.
  • Make sure that the CTR TK PUMP 1 pushbutton switch is released (out).
  • Release (out) the X FEED pushbutton switch.
  • The OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 2 goes off.
  • Make sure that the OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 1 is on.
  • The X FEED OPEN (green) light goes off.
  • The X FEED ON light (white) light goes off.
13.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Make sure that the MODE SELECT switch is set to DEFUEL/XFR position.
  • Set the right REFUEL VALVE switch to OPEN position.
  • Make sure that the OPEN light of the MODE SELECT is on.
  • Fuel moves from the center tank to the right wing tank.
14.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT.
  • The CTR value decreases.
  • The RIGHT value increases.
15.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU.
  • The RIGHT HI LVL light comes on.
  • Fuel movement stops.
16.On refuel/defuel control-Panel 800VU:
  • Set and hold the TEST switch to HI LVL.
  • The RIGHT HI LVL light goes out.
17.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT:
  • Release the TEST switch.
  • The CTR value decreases.
  • The RIGHT value increases.
  • Fill right wing to HI LVL.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • Before 45 seconds, the CTR TK PUMP 2 symbol goes to green cross-line.
  • Fuel movement stops.

NOTE: If the center tank pump operates for more than 45 seconds, you can stop the test and troubleshoot the system (Ref. TSM Chapter 28). (This is to prevent a possible fuel spill from the left wing NACA vent).
  • Set the right REFUEL VALVE switch to SHUT position.

  • The OFF light of the applicable R TK PUMPS 1 or 2 goes off and FAULT light comes on momentarily.
20.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT.
  • The RIGHT value decreases.
  • The CTR value increases.
21.Monitor fuel quantity-indicator 6QT, until approximately 400 kg (882 lb) of fuel used.
On the ECAM lower DU:
  • The CTR TK PUMP 2 symbol goes to green in-line.
22.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the CTR TK PUMP 2 pushbutton switch.
  • Release (out) the applicable R TK PUMPS 1 or 2 pushbutton switch.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The OFF light of the CTR TK PUMP 2 comes on.
  • The OFF light of the applicable R TK PUMPS 1 or 2 comes on.
23.On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • Set the REFUEL VALVE switches to NORM position.
  • Set the MODE SELECT switch to OFF position.
On refuel/defuel control-panel 800VU:
  • The OPEN light of the MODE SELECT goes off.
24.On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • Release (out) the MODE SEL pushbutton switch.
On fuel control-panel 40VU:
  • The MAN light of the MODE SEL comes on.
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-21-00-860-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).
   (3) Do the EIS stop procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
   (4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
Subtask 28-21-00-942-081-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
