A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures, when you do work in a fuel tank (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 28-00-00-860-064-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Defuel the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
   (2) If necessary, drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank(s) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
   (1) Get access to the applicable fuel tank or work area (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
     (a) For the LH and RH wing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002).
     (b) For the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-000-001).
     (c) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 6M (20 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 28-00-00-210-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection of the Fuel Tank Bonding
   (1) Do the inspection of the fuel tank bonding:
     (a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF to make sure that all the bonding straps are correctly installed.
     (b) Visually examine the bonding straps and make sure that:
  • they are not broken
  • there are no broken strands
  • the outer braid sheaths are not loose in the end crimps
  • there is no corrosion.
NOTE: Bonding straps which only show signs of tarnish should be kept in position until the next scheduled in-tank inspection.
     (c) Carefully pull each bonding strap to make sure that the end crimps are correctly attached.
     (d) Make sure that the bonding strap connections are in good condition.
     (e) Replace all defective bonding straps (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
     (f) Make sure that the bonding location points are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (2) Use the bonding strap inspection report sheet to record the condition of each bonding strap.
     (a) For the general location of the manhole covers:

     (b) For the general location of the fuel quantity indicator harness and the fuel sensor and probes:
     (c) For the general location of the water drain valve and the magnetic level indicators:
     (d) For the bonding locations in the wing tanks:
     (e) For the bonding locations in the center tank:

A. Inspection of the Fuel Tank Bonding
   (1) Do the inspection of the fuel tank bonding:

     (b) For the center tank (Ref. AMM TASK 57-17-11-400-001).
