3. Job Set-up
Subtask 27-84-65-941-050-A

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Retract the slats:

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(a) Make sure the slats are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
(3) On the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU, install 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION.
(4) In the cockpit, put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the slat controls.

B. Readout of the PPU Data
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Do the readout of the PPU data (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-860-801).

NOTE: Airbus recommends to do the readout and recording of the PPU angles before the maintenance action.
In case of a loss of the torque shaft fixture you can put the slat transmission system back to the initial condition (without a complete adjustment of the system).

(3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

D. Get Access
(1) Put the adjustable ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position below the zone.
(2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-006):
(a) For the left wing, remove 522NB.
(b) For the right wing, remove 622NB.
(3) Remove the applicable torque shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-45-000-004):
(a) For the left wing, remove [6010CM]
(b) For the right wing, remove [6060CM]
(4) Install the 98D27804001000 ADAPTOR-DRIVE, SLAT (AND FLAP) and a WRENCH - PNEUMATIC on the applicable bevel gearbox:
(a) For the left wing, use [6010CM]
(b) For the right wing, use [6060CM]

NOTE: This will let you operate the slats manually.

(5) Remove the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT, installed outboard of the removed torque shaft FIN 6010CM (6060CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-000-003).
(6) Manually extend the slats to the fully extended position.
(7) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT outboard of the removed torque shaft FIN 6010CM (6060CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
(8) Remove the applicable telescopic duct (Ref. AMM TASK 30-11-41-000-001).

(10) Remove the slat closing plate (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-69-000-001).

E. Installation of Support Equipment
(1) Install the 98D27804009001 SLATS - SLING (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-400-001) or the 98F27508498000 HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-84-65-020-051-A

A. Removal of the No 3 Slat
(1) Lift the 98D27804009001 SLATS - SLING or the 98F27508498000 HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT sufficiently, until it takes the weight of the slat.
(2) At the interface of the No 2 and 3 slats and the No 3 and 4 slats:
(a) Remove the nut (6), bolt (9) and washer (8). Then move the bonding strap (7) away from the bonding tag.
(b) Remove the screws (1) and the stops (3).
(c) Remove the weather seal (2).
(3) At the interface of the No 3 and 4 slats only:
(a) Loosen the clamps (5) and then remove the flexible tube (4) and the clamps (5).
(b) Install COVER - BLANKING on the open ends of the anti-icing ducts.
(4) At the No 7 and 8 slat tracks:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (18) from the nuts (29), (46), (54) and (55).
(b) Loosen the nuts (29), (46), (54) and (55) but do not remove them.
(c) Remove and discard the cotter pins (18) from the nuts (22), (26), (48) and (50).
(d) Make sure that when the nut (22) is removed, the head of the bolt (24) is in contact with the web of the lug. If not, damage can occur to the anti-rotation:

Slat Attachment at the No. 7 Slat Track - Detail

1 Remove the nut (22), washer (23), bolt (24) and bush (17).

NOTE: The bush (17) is a part of the slat track and the slat track linkage assembly.

(e) Remove the nut (26), washer (27) and bolt (19).
(f) Remove the nut (48), washer (47) and bolt (40).
(g) Remove the nut (50), washer (49) and bolt (41).
(5) Lift the slat from the slat tracks.
(6) Move the slat with the 98D27804009001 SLATS - SLING or the 98F27508498000 HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT and lower it onto the SUPPORT STRUCTURE - FLAP.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) If you install a new slat, remove the 98D27804009001 SLATS - SLING (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-000-001) or the 98F27508498000 HOIST-R I,FLAP SLAT.
