   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) In the cockpit, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (3) Fully extend the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 Spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the piston rod of the servo-control.
   (5) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

   (1) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

E. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004):
   (3) Remove the No. 3 Flap Track movable fairing, but do not retract the flaps or remove the fixed fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001).

E. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004):
   (3) Remove the No. 3 Flap Track movable fairing, but do not retract the flaps or remove the fixed fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004).

F. Installation of Support Equipment
   (1) Install a 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT on the torque shafts each side of the Track 3 actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).

G. Get Access
   (1) Remove the Track 3 actuator 6221CM(6271CM) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-49-000-003).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Removal of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly - Track 3
F Flap Actuator Lever - Track 3 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Put a SUPPORT STRUCTURE - FLAP along the span of the outboard flap to prevent movement.
   (2) Remove and discard the cotter pins (6).
   (3) Remove the nuts (7), the washers (8) and the bolts (10) and disconnect the link-arms (9) from the levers (5).
   (4) Lower the outboard flap on to the stops.
NOTE: The stops only limit the carriage movement. They do not prevent flap movement.
   (5) Hold the trailing-edge of the outboard flap with an STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
NOTE: The flap can be damaged if it is not supported along all of the span.
   (6) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (7) Remove the nut (16), the bolt (4) and the retention plate (13).
   (8) Remove the nut (1) and the bolt (2).
   (9) Use the 98D27508698000 EXTRACTOR-HOUSING,OUTB TR 3 to remove the bearing housing (3).
   (10) Move the lever (5) inboard and remove it from the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (11) Turn the lever (5) through 90 deg. and remove it from the brackets (14) on the rear spar.
   (12) Remove and discard the cotter pin (15). Use the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to remove the ring nut (18). Remove the washer (19).
   (13) Remove and discard the cotter pins (21).
   (14) Remove the nuts (20) and the bolts (11).
   (15) Use the 98D27508697000 EXTRACTOR - HOUSING, TRACK 2,3,4 to remove the bearing housing (12).
Subtask 27-54-55-020-056-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly - Track 3
(Outboard Flap Assembly P/N D57585501004 and P/N D57585501005)
   (1) Put a SUPPORT STRUCTURE - FLAP along the span of the outboard flap to prevent movement.
   (2) Remove and discard the cotter pin (6).
   (3) Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (10) and disconnect the link-arm (9) from the lever (5).
   (4) Lower the outboard flap on to the stops.
NOTE: The stops only prevent carriage movement and not flap movement.
   (5) Hold the trailing-edge of the outboard flap with an STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
NOTE: The flap can be damaged if it is not supported along all of the span.
   (6) Remove and discard the cotter pin (13).
   (7) Remove the nut (14), the bolt (4) and the retention plate (12).
   (8) Remove the nut (18) and the bolt (3).
   (9) Use the 98D27508697000 EXTRACTOR - HOUSING, TRACK 2,3,4 to remove the bearing housing (2).
   (10) Remove and discard the cotter pins (15).
   (11) Remove the nuts (16) and the bolts (17).
   (12) Use the 98D27508698000 EXTRACTOR-HOUSING,OUTB TR 3 to remove the bearing housing (11).
   (13) Turn the lever (5) through 90 deg and remove it from the brackets (1) on the rear spar.

A. Removal of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly - Track 3
F Flap Actuator Lever - Track 3 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Put a SUPPORT STRUCTURE - FLAP along the span of the outboard flap to prevent the movement of the outboard flap.
   (2) Remove the nuts (7), the washers (8), the bolts (10) and disconnect the link-arms (9) from the levers (5).
   (3) Lower the outboard flap on to the stops.
NOTE: The stops only limit the movement of the carriage. They do not prevent the movement of the flap.
   (4) Hold the trailing-edge of the outboard flap with a STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
NOTE: The flap can become damaged if it is not supported all along the span.
   (5) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (6) Remove the nut (16), the bolt (4) and the retention plate (13).
   (7) Remove the nut (1) and the bolt (2).
   (8) Use the 98D27508698000 EXTRACTOR-HOUSING,OUTB TR 3 to remove the bearing housing (3).
   (9) Move the lever (5) inboard and remove it from the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (10) Turn the lever (5) through 90 deg. and remove it from the brackets (14) on the rear spar.
   (11) Remove and discard the cotter pin (15).
   (12) Use the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to remove the ring nut (18).
   (13) Remove the washer (19).
   (14) Remove the nuts (20) and the bolts (11).
   (15) Use the 98D27508697000 EXTRACTOR - HOUSING, TRACK 2,3,4 to remove the bearing housing (12).
Subtask 27-54-55-020-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Removal of the Flap-Actuator Lever Assembly - Track 3
(Outboard Flap Assembly P/N D57585501006 and P/N D57585501007)
   (1) Put a SUPPORT STRUCTURE - FLAP along the span of the outboard flap to prevent movement of the outboard flap.
   (2) Remove and discard the cotter pin (6).
   (3) Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the bolt (10).
   (4) Disconnect the link-arm (9) from the lever (5).
   (5) Lower the outboard flap on to the stops.
NOTE: The stops only prevent carriage movement and not flap movement.
   (6) Hold the trailing-edge of the outboard flap with an STRUT - ADJUSTABLE.
NOTE: The outboard flap can be damaged if it is not supported along all of the span.
   (7) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17).
   (8) Remove the nut (16), the bolt (4) and the retention plate (13).
   (9) Remove the nut (1) and the bolt (2).
   (10) Use the 98D27508697000 EXTRACTOR - HOUSING, TRACK 2,3,4 to remove the bearing housing (3).
   (11) Move the lever (5) inboard and remove it from the outboard bearing housing (12).
   (12) Turn the lever (5) through 90 degree and remove it from the brackets (14) on the rear spar.
   (13) Remove and discard the cotter pin (15).
   (14) Use the 98D27504028000 SPANNER-FLAP LEVER TRACKS 2 AND 3 to remove the ring nut (18).
   (15) Remove the washer (19).
   (16) Remove and discard the cotter pins (21).
   (17) Remove the nuts (20) and the bolts (11).
   (18) Use the 98D27508698000 EXTRACTOR-HOUSING,OUTB TR 3 to remove the outboard bearing housing (12).
