A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Extend the slats and flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the warning notice on the HYD section of the panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems.
Subtask 27-60-00-010-051-A (1) Extend the slats and flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the warning notice on the HYD section of the panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems.
B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the access door 822.
(2) Open the access door 822.
(3) On the battery power center 105VU:
(a) at the zone 580 for the left spoilers.
(b) at the zone 680 for the right spoilers.
(5) Open the applicable access panels:
(a) FOR [31CE1] (SERVO CTL-SPLR1, L G)
Subtask 27-60-00-865-053-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the access door 822.
(2) Open the access door 822.
(3) On the battery power center 105VU:
- loosen the two screws and remove the protective cover.
(a) at the zone 580 for the left spoilers.
(b) at the zone 680 for the right spoilers.
(5) Open the applicable access panels:

MAKE SURE THAT NO SPOILER MAINTENANCE KEY STAYS ENGAGED IN THE MAINTENANCE DEVICE HOUSING. AERODYNAMIC FORCES WILL CAUSE UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE SPOILER IF THE MAINTENANCE KEY STAYS IN ITS HOUSING.
(1) If there is no plate with the 'O' and 'M' indications on the maintenance device (PRE GOODRICH VSB 31077-27-15): CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD ON THE KEY SPOILER MAINTENANCE TOOL WHEN YOU SET THE SERVOCONTROL TO OPERATIONAL MODE OR MAINTENANCE MODE.
IF YOU APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOOL AND/OR TO THE SERVOCONTROL.
(a) Install the 98D27603002000 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE98D27603002001 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE (2) on the servocontrol and turn it a quarter turn counterclockwise. NOTE: The necessary torque to operate the maintenance device is 0.350 m.daN (30.97 lbf.in). If 0.350 m.daN (30.97 lbf.in) is not enough to turn the KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE, it is possible that the maintenance device is damaged. To prevent more damage to the maintenance device, remove the spoiler servocontrol and send it back to the supplier for analysis.
1 If necessary, use a TOMMY BAR DIA 4 MM (0,157 IN) - METALLIC to turn the spoiler maintenance key. (b) Move the spoiler to the extended position with your hand.
CAUTION:
WHILE THE SAFETY COLLAR IS INSTALLED, DO NOT PRESSURIZE THE SPOILER SERVO CONTROL TO MOVE THE SPOILER. ONLY MOVE THE SPOILER WITH YOUR HAND. IF YOU PRESSURIZE THE SPOILER SERVO CONTROL WITH THE SAFETY COLLAR INSTALLED, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO LUGS MADE OF CFRP.
(c) Put the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER (3) on the rod (1) of the servocontrol. (d) Install the two pins of the safety collar (3).
NOTE: The COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER is used to prevent the spoiler movements with its own weight.
(2) If there is a plate with the 'O' and 'M' indications on the maintenance device (POST GOODRICH VSB 31077-27-15): CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD ON THE KEY SPOILER MAINTENANCE TOOL WHEN YOU SET THE SERVOCONTROL TO OPERATIONAL MODE OR MAINTENANCE MODE.
IF YOU APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOOL AND/OR TO THE SERVOCONTROL.

B. Retraction
(1) Make sure that the warning notice is in position on the panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is in position on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Remove the two pins of the safety collar (3).
(4) Remove the safety collar (3) of the servocontrol.
(5) Move the spoiler to the retracted position with your hand.
The servocontrol is in operational position.
(b) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the warning notice is in position on the panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.

(3) Remove the two pins of the safety collar (3).
(4) Remove the safety collar (3) of the servocontrol.
(5) Move the spoiler to the retracted position with your hand.
NOTE: The spoiler can move with his own weight.
(6) Make sure that the spoiler is in the fully retracted position. CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT NO SPOILER MAINTENANCE KEY STAYS ENGAGED IN THE MAINTENANCE DEVICE HOUSING. AERODYNAMIC FORCES WILL CAUSE UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE SPOILER IF THE MAINTENANCE KEY STAYS IN ITS HOUSING.
(7) If there is no plate with the 'O' and 'M' indications on the maintenance device (PRE GOODRICH VSB 31077-27-15): CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD ON THE KEY SPOILER MAINTENANCE TOOL WHEN YOU SET THE SERVOCONTROL TO OPERATIONAL MODE OR MAINTENANCE MODE.
IF YOU APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOOL AND/OR TO THE SERVOCONTROL.
(a) Turn the 98D27603002000 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE98D27603002001 KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE (2) a quarter turn clockwise and remove it. The servocontrol is in operational position.
NOTE: The necessary torque to operate the maintenance device is 0.350 m.daN (30.97 lbf.in). If 0.350 m.daN (30.97 lbf.in) is not enough to turn the KEY-SPOILER MAINTENANCE, it is possible that the maintenance device is damaged. To prevent more damage to the maintenance device, remove the spoiler servocontrol and send it back to the supplier for analysis.
1 If necessary, use a TOMMY BAR DIA 4 MM (0,157 IN) - METALLIC to turn the spoiler maintenance key. (b) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

(c) Gradually apply a manual force to the spoiler surface trailing-edge and make sure that you cannot extend the spoiler. NOTE: If you can extend the spoiler manually with the servocontrol in the operational position:
- It is necessary to replace the spoiler servocontrol.
(8) If there is a plate with the 'O' and 'M' indications on the maintenance device (POST GOODRICH VSB 31077-27-15): - It is necessary to replace the spoiler servocontrol.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE STOP OF THE HEXAGONAL HEAD OF THE SPOILER MAINTENANCE KEY IS AGAINST THE LETTER 'O' ON THE HOUSING.
IF IT IS AGAINST THE LETTER 'M', AERODYNAMIC FORCES WILL CAUSE UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE SPOILER AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD ON THE KEY SPOILER MAINTENANCE TOOL WHEN YOU SET THE SERVOCONTROL TO OPERATIONAL MODE OR MAINTENANCE MODE.
IF YOU APPLY A HIGH TORQUE LOAD, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TOOL AND/OR TO THE SERVOCONTROL.

(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the FLAPS panel 114VU (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
(2) Retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
