   (1) In the cockpit:
     (a) Prevent damage to the ELT electronics:
CAUTION: DO NOT DO AN ANNUNCIATOR LIGHT TEST DURING THE TEST OF THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER (ELT) SYSTEM. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO AN INTERNAL RELAY OF THE ELT.
CAUTION: PULL THE TOGGLE SWITCH BEFORE YOU SET IT TO THE "ON", "OFF" OR "ARMED" POSITION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EMERGENCY LOCATOR TRANSMITTER.
1 On panel 25VU, make sure that the ANN LT switch (1) is not on the TEST position.
2 Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on panel 25VU to tell persons not to set the ANN LT switch (1) to the TEST position during the BITE test.
     (b) On Radio Management Panel (RMP1) 1RG1, set the frequency to 121.5 MHz as follows:
1 Set the ON/OFF switch (3) to the ON position.
2 Push the VHF1 pushbutton switch (4). The green LED on the VHF1 pushbutton switch (4) comes on.

B. BITE Test
F BITE Test - Component Location ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
NOTE: The BITE test operates for approximately 20 seconds. After this time, the ELT goes into waiting condition for a period of 30 seconds. During the waiting period, you can see and hear intermittently the visual indications and sounds on the ELT and ELT control panel. After this waiting period, the ELT transmits real distress signals.

If the BITE test stops before the test is completed, start the test again.

You need two persons to complete the BITE test.

   (1) Do the test during the first five minutes after the hour, between XX:00 hours and XX:05 hours.
