3. Job Set-up
Subtask 25-50-00-010-120-A
A. Get Access
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the opening of the forward and/or Aft cargo compartment door(s).
   (3) Open the related cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (4) Set the light switch to on.

B. Damage Limits
   (1) Do the repair of the damaged area, if:
  • The length of a damaged area is less than 250 mm (9.84 in.)
  • The width of a damaged area is less than 25 mm (0.98 in.)
  • The minimum distance to the nearest damaged or the repaired area on the same panel is 50 mm (1.97 in.).
NOTE: If the distance to the nearest damaged area on the same panel is less than 50 mm (1.97 in.), you can think of it as one damaged area.
   (2) Do the repair, if the area adjacent to the damage is flat.
   (3) Types of repair patch:
  • Aluminum patch (ABS 5044) with thickness between 1.2 mm (0.047 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.059 in.)
  • Laminate Repair Patch-Cured - Fire compliant Intumescent Cargo 2 (Material No.13XBD5)
  • Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) .
4. Procedure
Subtask 25-50-00-020-067-A
A. Removal of the Damaged Lining Panel(s)
   (1) Remove the damaged lining panel(s) for the related repair procedure, if necessary:
     (a) From the forward cargo compartment:
     (b) From the aft cargo compartment:

B. Repair of the Lining Panel
   (1) Remove the damaged material from the lining panel.
   (2) Remove the rough edges with CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 80 - 120).
   (3) Remove the paint from the damaged area and the area for the overlap with ABRASIVE PAPER - 240 GRIT (ANSI B74.18).
   (4) Clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (5) Let the surface dry for a minimum of 15 minutes.
   (6) Cut the repair patch to the correct size:
     (a) Make sure that there is an overlap more than 20 mm (0.79 in.) on each side of the repaired area.
     (b) Make sure that each corner of the repair patch has a radius larger than 10 mm (0.39 in.).
   (7) Do not overlap other repair patches.
   (8) On the metal patch:
     (a) Make the repair patch faying surface rough with ABRASIVE PAPER - 240 GRIT (ANSI B74.18).
     (b) Clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Remove the protection paper from one side of the adhesive tape.
     (d) Apply Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) on the surface you made rough.
     (e) Make sure that there is no air between the repair patch and the Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) .
NOTE: Air between the repair patch and the Double Sided Adhesive Tape-Carpet & Furnishing - Legacy (Material No.05PHB9) is not permitted.
   (9) Remove the other protection paper from the adhesive tape and apply the repair patch to the repair area.
   (10) Push the repair patch tightly on the lining panel.
   (11) Attach the patch with steel rivets:
     (a) Use a DRILL DIA 1/128 IN and drill regularly spaced holes along the edges of the patch as follows:
  • The distance to the edges of the patch must be more than 10 mm (0.39 in.)
  • The distance between the holes must be between 20 mm (0.79 in.) and 50 mm (1.97 in.)
  • Do not install rivets in areas with contour radius less than 100 mm (3.94 in.)
  • Do not install rivets in areas which have an overlap on the aircraft structure.
     (b) Remove all dust and loose particles.
     (c) Clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (d) Install the stainless steel rivets (NAS1919M04S03) or (NAS1919C04S03) and the stainless steel washers (ASNA0113-32) with the GUN - RIVET.
   (12) Apply Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) to the metal patch:
NOTE: This step is not applicable for Laminate Repair Patch-Cured - Fire compliant Intumescent Cargo 2 (Material No.13XBD5) .
     (a) Make the repair patch surface rough with ABRASIVE PAPER - 240 GRIT (ANSI B74.18).
     (b) Clean the surface with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (c) Let the surface dry for a minimum of 15 minutes.
     (d) Apply Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative Furnishing (Material No.04JMD9) to the repair patch surface.
     (e) Use a GAGE-THICKNESS, PAINT BORER 518 and do a check to make sure that the paint layer thickness is a minimum of 300 micrometers.

   (1) Install the repaired lining panel(s):

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Set the light switch to off.
   (3) Close the related cargo compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
