Installation of the Oil Tank

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-832).

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Make sure that the STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Make sure that the STEPLADDER 0.5 M (1.6 FT) is in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 79-11-01-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Oil Tank
(1) Removal of protection covers
(2) (a) ApplyP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize to the threads of the three nuts (18) and four bolts (3).
1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the three bolts (16), washers (17), and nuts (18) on the connecting links.
(c) Attach the oil tank (1) with the two pins (2), two pins (4) and four bolts (3) on the connecting links on the fan case.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (3) to between 30 and 26 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.29 m.daN )
.
(e) TORQUE the three nuts (18) to between 40 and 36 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.41 m.daN )
.
(3) (a) ApplyP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize to the threads of the three bolts (5).
1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the new EIPC 79-11-01-01-080 FACE SEAL (6) and tube (LP01) with the three bolts (5).
(c) TORQUE the three bolts (5) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(4) (a) ApplyP03-001 lubricant, aircraft turbine engine or P06-053 lubricant, sealing ring to a new EIPC 79-11-01-01-090 PACKING (21).
(b) Install the packing (21) on the packing groove.
(c) ApplyP06-054 compound, paste, anti-seize to the threads of the three bolts (20).
1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the tube (LB03) and bracket (19) with the three bolts (20).
(e) TORQUE the three bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds.
(f) Install the wiring harness (W03) on the bracket (19).
(5) Install the scupper drain tube (upper) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-49-400-801).
(6) If necessary, install the oil quantity sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-21-400-801).
(7) Connect the wiring harness (W03) connector (P41) to the oil quantity sensor receptacle (J41) as follows:
(a) Examine, align, and engage the connector.
(b) Push lightly inward on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) Make sure you can feel the ratchet feature.
(e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(8) Install the Oil Debris Monitoring (ODM) sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-35-21-400-801).
(9) If necessary, install the oil tank cap (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-02-400-801).
(10) Fill the engine with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(11) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
5. Close-up(1) Removal of protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) (a) Apply
1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the three bolts (16), washers (17), and nuts (18) on the connecting links.
(c) Attach the oil tank (1) with the two pins (2), two pins (4) and four bolts (3) on the connecting links on the fan case.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (3) to between 30 and 26 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.29 m.daN )
. (e) TORQUE the three nuts (18) to between 40 and 36 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.41 m.daN )
. (3) (a) Apply
1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the new EIPC 79-11-01-01-080 FACE SEAL (6) and tube (LP01) with the three bolts (5).
(c) TORQUE the three bolts (5) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (4) (a) Apply
(b) Install the packing (21) on the packing groove.

1 For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(d) Install the tube (LB03) and bracket (19) with the three bolts (20).
(e) TORQUE the three bolts (20) to between 90 and 80 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.90 m.daN )
equally in an opposite pattern until the same torque indication holds. (f) Install the wiring harness (W03) on the bracket (19).
(5) Install the scupper drain tube (upper) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-49-400-801).
(6) If necessary, install the oil quantity sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-21-400-801).
(7) Connect the wiring harness (W03) connector (P41) to the oil quantity sensor receptacle (J41) as follows:
(a) Examine, align, and engage the connector.
(b) Push lightly inward on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
(c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
(d) Make sure you can feel the ratchet feature.
(e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
(f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(8) Install the Oil Debris Monitoring (ODM) sensor (Ref. AMM TASK 79-35-21-400-801).
(9) If necessary, install the oil tank cap (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-02-400-801).
(10) Fill the engine with oil (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(11) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage, and correct assembly.
Subtask 79-11-01-410-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802).

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802).
B. Test
(1) Do the test No. 3 - Power Plant - Operation Test (Idle Power Test) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-720-811).
