BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-00-00-010-110-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Nacelle Maintenance
Subtask 79-00-00-010-111-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). D. Get Access
(1) Remove the Exhaust Rear Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-41-000-803).
(2) If necessary for better access, remove the Exhaust Front Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-40-000-801) .
4. Procedure(1) Remove the Exhaust Rear Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-41-000-803).
(2) If necessary for better access, remove the Exhaust Front Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-40-000-801) .
Subtask 79-00-00-210-103-A
A. Visual Inspection of the Aft Sump Area for Oil Leakage
(1) If the cause of the oil leakage is evident, do the appropriate task detailed here after.
(2) Examine the oil supply tube (1) and the oil supply-damper tube (2):
(a) Do a check of the oil-supply-tubes B-nuts gap with the nipples:
1 If there is no clearance, replace the tubes.
(b) Do a check of the B-nuts correct torque-value as follows:
1 Oil-supply tube B-nuts:
b Make sure that the torque value is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-801).
2 Damper oil-supply-tube B-nuts:
b Make sure that the torque value is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-802).
(c) Disconnect the oil supply tube (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-801).
(d) Disconnect the oil supply-damper tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-802).
(e) Clean the oil supply tube (1) and the oil supply-damper tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-100-801).
(f) Do a check of the sealing surfaces of the tubes (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-200-801):
1 If sealing is damaged, replace the tube.
(g) Do a visual check of the tubes exposed areas for cracks:
1 If a crack is found, replace the tube.
(3) Examine the oil scavenge tube (3):
(a) Do a visual check of the oil-scavenge-tube (3) exposed areas for cracks:
1 If a crack is found, replace the engine.
(4) Do a visual inspection of the rear enclosure cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-00-210-801).
(5) Examine the No.5 bearing oil nozzle:
(a) Do a check of the No.5 bearing-oil nozzle torque-value (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-400-801).
(b) Remove the No.5 bearing oil nozzle (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-000-801).
(c) Inspect the No.5 bearing oil nozzle (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-210-801):
1 Replace, if not serviceable.
(d) Check the O-ring condition before replacement to identify potential oil leak source.
(6) Examine the damper oil-supply-tube nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support:
(a) Removal of the equipped nipple (4) from the No. 5 bearing support:
1 Remove the equipped nipple (4) from the No. 5 bearing support.
2 Remove the packing-preformed O-ring (5) from the nipple (4).
(b) Check the nipple (4) sealing surface and replace the nipple (4) if necessary.
(c) Check the O-ring (5) condition for possible oil-leakage source.
(d) Discard the packing-preformed O-ring (5).
(e) Installation of the packing-preformed O-ring (5) on the nipple (4):
1 Lubricate a new EIPC 72-59-00-01-170 PACKING-PREFORMED O-RING (5) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
2 Lubricate the threads of the nipple (4) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442)
3 Install the new EIPC 72-59-00-01-170 PACKING-PREFORMED O-RING (5) on the nipple (4).
(f) Installation of the equipped nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support:
1 Install the equipped nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support.
2 TORQUE the equipped nipple (4) to between 150 and 133 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.50 m.daN )

Subtask 79-00-00-420-068-A (1) If the cause of the oil leakage is evident, do the appropriate task detailed here after.
(2) Examine the oil supply tube (1) and the oil supply-damper tube (2):
(a) Do a check of the oil-supply-tubes B-nuts gap with the nipples:

a Remove the safety cable (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-801). b Make sure that the torque value is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-801).
2 Damper oil-supply-tube B-nuts:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
a Remove the safety cable (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-802). b Make sure that the torque value is correct (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-802).
(c) Disconnect the oil supply tube (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-801).
(d) Disconnect the oil supply-damper tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-000-802).
(e) Clean the oil supply tube (1) and the oil supply-damper tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-100-801).
(f) Do a check of the sealing surfaces of the tubes (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-200-801):
1 If sealing is damaged, replace the tube.
(g) Do a visual check of the tubes exposed areas for cracks:
1 If a crack is found, replace the tube.
(3) Examine the oil scavenge tube (3):
(a) Do a visual check of the oil-scavenge-tube (3) exposed areas for cracks:
1 If a crack is found, replace the engine.
(4) Do a visual inspection of the rear enclosure cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-00-210-801).
(5) Examine the No.5 bearing oil nozzle:
(a) Do a check of the No.5 bearing-oil nozzle torque-value (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-400-801).
(b) Remove the No.5 bearing oil nozzle (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-000-801).
(c) Inspect the No.5 bearing oil nozzle (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-210-801):
1 Replace, if not serviceable.
(d) Check the O-ring condition before replacement to identify potential oil leak source.
(6) Examine the damper oil-supply-tube nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support:
(a) Removal of the equipped nipple (4) from the No. 5 bearing support:
1 Remove the equipped nipple (4) from the No. 5 bearing support.

2 Lubricate the threads of the nipple (4) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442)
3 Install the new EIPC 72-59-00-01-170 PACKING-PREFORMED O-RING (5) on the nipple (4).
(f) Installation of the equipped nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support:
1 Install the equipped nipple (4) on the No. 5 bearing support.
2 TORQUE the equipped nipple (4) to between 150 and 133 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.50 m.daN )
. B. Reconnection of the Tubes and the Oil Nozzle
(1) Install the damper oil supply-tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-802).
(2) Install the oil supply tube (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-801).
(3) Install the No.5 bearing-oil nozzle with a new O-ring (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Install the damper oil supply-tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-802).
(2) Install the oil supply tube (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-81-400-801).
(3) Install the No.5 bearing-oil nozzle with a new O-ring (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-80-400-801).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the exhaust Front Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-40-400-801).
(3) Install the Exhaust rear Plug (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-41-400-803).
