A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):

A. Visual Inspection of the Door Latches, Bushings, stirrups and Centering Pin

INSPECT/CHECK	MAXIMUM SERVICEABLE LIMITS	REMARKS
1.Inspect the door latches for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted Thrust Reverser Half Door Latches ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL	If you find damage, replace the door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-043) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-043).
2.Inspect the related hardware of the door latches for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted	If you find some damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-043) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-043).
3.Inspect the bushings for: A.Wear	Wear serviceable limits Permissible Damage - Bushing ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL	If two bushings, on each side of the latch are less than satisfactory limits, replace the half door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-002). If three bushings on one half door are less than permitted limits, replace the half door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-002).
4.Inspect the stirrups for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted Thrust Reverser Half Centering Pins ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL	If you find some damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-044) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-044).
B.Wear	No wear permitted	If there is wear, replace the stirrups (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-044) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-044).
C.Cracks	No cracks permitted	If there is a crack, replace the stirrups (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-044) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-044).
5.Inspect the related stirrups hardware for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted	If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-044) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-044).
6.Inspect the centering pins for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted	If you find some damage, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-045) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-045).
B.Cracks	No cracks permitted	If there are cracks, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-045) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-045).
C.Wear	Wear serviceable limits Permissible Wear - Centering Pin ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL	If the wear is more than satisfactory limits, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-045) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-045).
7.Inspect the related centering pin hardware for:
A.Damage	No damage permitted	If you find some damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-045) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-045).
8.Examine the thrust reverser structure adjacent to the door latches, look for:
A.Cracks	No cracks permitted	If you find cracks, repair them, refer to CFM56-5B Nacelle SRM 54-30-00 (Cage Code 51563).
B.Loose fastener	Not permitted	If you find a loose fastener, tighten it SPM 707011.
C.Missing fastener	Not permitted	If a fastener is missing, replace it SPM 707011, SPM 704321, SPM 704331, SPM 704332.
D.Damage	Not permitted	If you find damage, repair the damage, refer to CFM56-5B Nacelle SRM 54-30-00 (Cage Code 51563).

NOTE: Make sure that the thrust reverser half door latches are adjusted when you replace the latches or the stirrups (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-820-042).

NOTE: Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all nuts and connectors after they are torqued.

5. Close-up

(2) Close the thrust reverser doors but do not make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
