TASK 78-32-11-400-002-A
Installation of the Left or Right Half Door of Thrust Reverser

CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: Interferences between the LPTACC Inlet Airscoop assy and the Thrust reverser cowl have been observed in production on a limited number of A320 Family aircraft powered with CFM56-5B/3 engines. CFM has issued SB CFM56-5B S/B 75-0044. In order to recover the gap between the LPTACC scoop and the Thrust reverser cowl to avoid potential interference, Airbus recommends to incorporate this SB at the opportunity of Thrust Reverser Cowl Removal/Installation.

A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Install the HIX1001 SLING,HANDLING on the half door as follows:
CAUTION: THE STOPS ON THE SCREWS MUST TOUCH THE 12 O'CLOCK BEAM. IF THE SCREWS ON THE LIFTING BEAM ARE NOT FULLY IN THE HOIST POINT, THE HALF DOOR COULD FALL. IF THE HALF DOOR FALLS IT CAN BE DAMAGED.
     (a) Remove and keep the hoist plugs from the two upper hoist points.
     (b) Install the handling sling on the two upper hoist points of half door.
     (c) Remove the mobile workstand attachment strap from the lower hoist point.
     (d) Install the lifting strap bracket to the lower hoist point on the middle lower fitting. Hook the other end of the lifting strap to the hook on the winch above.
   (2) Remove the half door from the HIX3001 WORKSTAND-MOBILE as follows:
     (a) Remove the cotter pins and hinge pins from the mobile workstand.
     (b) Remove the half door from the mobile workstand.
     (c) Install the hinge pins on the mobile workstand and attach with cotter pins.

B. Installation of the Left or Right Thrust Reverser half Door
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE BLOCKER DOORS ARE LOCKED TO PREVENT BLOCKER DOOR DAMAGE.
CAUTION: THE HALF DOOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 440 POUNDS (200 KG). MAKE SURE THAT THE CRANE CAN LIFT 440 POUNDS (200 KG). HOWEVER, THE FORCE USED TO LIFT THE HALF DOOR SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 661 POUNDS (300 KG). IF THE LIFTING FORCE IS TOO MUCH THE SCREWS IN THE LIFTING BEAM CAN BREAK AND THE HALF DOOR WILL FALL AND BE DAMAGE.
   (1) Apply a thin layer of molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) on the hinge pins.
   (2) Move the half door to the 10 degrees opening position.
   (3) Put thrust reverser in a position to align the hinges with the hinges on the pylon.
   (4) Attach the half door to the pylon with the hinge pins, the washers and the nuts.
   (5) Tighten the nut as required to remove the clearance between the washer and hinge bushing.
   (6) Align the cotter pin holes.
NOTE: If the cotter pin holes are not align, the nut can be untightened of 1/6 of turn to align the bolt hole with a slot in the nut.
   (7) Install the new AIPC 78-32-11-01-050 COTTER PIN (10).
   (8) Disconnect the two shackles of the handling sling.
   (9) Remove the handling sling from the two upper hoist points of the half door.
   (10) Move the half door:
WARNING: YOU MUST HOLD EACH HALF DOOR OPENED WITH THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE.
     (a) Move the half door to 45 degrees position with the handling sling.
   (11) Install the hold-open rods as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the quick release pin that attach the hold-open rod to the upper bracket.
     (b) Attach the hold-open rod to the attach bracket of the forward frame with the quick-release pin.
