(a) Loosely connect the hose (60) to the actuator (50) and tighten the hose coupling nut with your hand.
(b) Bleed the air from the hydraulic hose (60).
2 Connect the HIX4001 PUMP-ACTUATOR, FAN REVERSER to the thrust reverser half door connection.
3 Operate the hand pump until hydraulic fluid flows out thru the coupling nut of the hose (60).
4 When no air bubbles are seen in the fluid at the coupling nut, stop the pump.
5 Remove unwanted fluid with a clean cloth.
(c) Torque the hose nut as follows:
.
(d) Remove the drain can from below the cowl opening actuator.
(7) Apply a thin layer of lubricant molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) on the threads of the bolt (20).
(8) Use the Hand Pump to extend the rod on the cowl opening actuator (50) to the open position.
(10) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 278 and 139 lbf.in (3.14 and 1.57 m.daN )
.
(11) Lock the nut (10) with a new AIPC 78-36-51-01-030 COTTER PIN (5).
(12) Put the upper cooling jacket (55) or (65) in position on the cowl opening actuator (50).
(13) Put the lower cooling jacket (45) or (70) in position on the cowl opening actuator (50).
(14) Install the two clamps (40) that attach the cooling jackets.
(15) Put the flexible cooling hose (35) or (85) on the lower cooling jacket (45) or (70). Attach it with the clamp (25).
(16) For the right hand cowl opening actuator only. Put the clamp (90) on the flexible cooling hose (85).
(17) Put the other end of the flexible cooling hose (35) or (85) on the inlet scoop (30) or (75). Attach it with the clamp (25).
(18) TORQUE the clamp (25) to between 25 and 10 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.11 m.daN )
.
(19) For the right hand cowl opening actuator only. Put the stud clip (95) in the hole on the clamp (90) and install the nut (80).
(20) TORQUE the nut (80) to between 26.553 and 22.127 lbf.in (0.30 and 0.25 m.daN )
.
5. Close-upNOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all nuts and connections after you have checked their torques.
(1) Apply a thin layer of molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) on the threads of the bolts (20). CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE WASHER ON THE ACTUATOR ROD IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ROD. THE WASHER MUST BE DOWN. IF THE WASHER IS NOT DOWN DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THE STRUCTURE.
CAUTION:
INSTALL THE COWL-OPENING ACTUATOR IN RETRACTED POSITION.
(2) Put the cowl opening actuator (50) in position at the thrust reverser hinge. NOTE: The bolt head goes forward on the left cowl opening actuator, and the bolt head goes aft on the right cowl opening actuator.
(a) Install the bolt (20), washer (15) and nut (10). (3) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 278 and 139 lbf.in (3.14 and 1.57 m.daN )
. (4) Lock the nut (10) with a new AIPC 78-36-51-01-030 COTTER PIN (5).
(5) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the hydraulic hose (60) and the actuator (50).
CAUTION:
YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THE BEND IN THE FLEX HOSE IS OUTBOARD AND AWAY FROM THE ENGINE. THE HOSE CAN RUB ON ENGINE PARTS. IF THE HOSE IS BENT INBOARD IT RUBS ON ENGINE PARTS AND CAN BE DAMAGED.
(a) Install the hydraulic hose (60) on the thrust reverser half door. (b) Connect the hydraulic hose (60) to the supply pipe on the half door.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the nut on the inner supply pipe when you torque the nut on the hose.
(c) TORQUE the coupling nut on the hose (60) to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )
