D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
Subtask 78-31-62-420-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Pylon TRAS Track Lock Harness
(1) Removal of the protection covers
(2) If necessary, install the frames (4) and (5).
(a) Mix thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803), PU4-0004A curing solution, epoxy primer and the thinner (Material No.PU4-0005) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(b) Clean the bracket faying surface for the frame (4) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Clean the surface with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl dries.
(c) Look at the surface of the torque box bracket where you will install the frame (4). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
(d) Attach the frame (4) to the torque box bracket. Use the two bolts (6), the four washers (7) and the two nuts (8). Wet install the bolts (6) and nuts (8) with thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
1 TORQUE the nuts (8) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )
.
(e) Clean the bracket faying surface for the frame (5) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Clean the surface with clean dry lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl dries.
(f) Look at the surface of the torque box bracket where you will install the frame (5). Make sure the surface has a layer of paint and you can see no bare metal. If part of the surface is without paint, apply a layer of thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture to the surface.
(g) Attach the frame (5) to the torque box bracket. Use the two bolts (9), the four washers (10) and the two nuts (11). Wet install the bolts (9) and nuts (11) with thePU4-0002 epoxy primer, fluid resistant or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) mixture.
1 TORQUE the nuts (11) to between 27 and 24 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.27 m.daN )

(3) Install the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) (4135KS).
(a) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness in the insert (2) and frame (4).
(b) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) connector (4050VC-A) to the left TRAS track lock harness.
1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(c) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness connectors (4053VC-A) and (4052VC-A) to the left TRAS monitoring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-813).
(d) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness in the insert (3) and frame (5).
(e) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) connector (4051VC-A) to the right TRAS track lock harness.
1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(f) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness connectors (4055VC-A) and (4054VC-A) to the right TRAS monitoring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-813).
(g) Wind tape (Material No.PU1-0012) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) around the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) as necessary to make sure the harness is tight in the two spring clips and two inserts (13).
(h) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) in the two spring clips on the rear ramp bracket.
(i) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) in the two inserts (13).
(j) Attach the two inserts (13), the two frames (12) and the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) to the rear ramp bracket. Use the four bolts (15) and the four washers (14).
(l) Attach the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1), the two clamps (16) and the two clamps on the pylon TRAS monitoring harness to the pylon brackets. Use the two screws (18) and the two washers (17). Make sure that the clamps (16) are adjacent to the washers (17).
1 Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(n) Adjust the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1).
(o) Tighten the bolts.
1 TORQUE the bolts (15) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

(p) Tighten the screws.
1 TORQUE the screws (18) to between 93.8 and 72.5 lbf.in (1.06 and 0.82 m.daN )

(q) Tighten the bolts on the frames (4) and (5).
1 Tighten the bolts on the frames (4) and (5) until you fully compress the spring.
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine and adjacent components. (2) If necessary, install the frames (4) and (5).

(a) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness in the insert (2) and frame (4).
(b) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) connector (4050VC-A) to the left TRAS track lock harness.
1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(c) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness connectors (4053VC-A) and (4052VC-A) to the left TRAS monitoring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-813).
(d) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) and the pylon TRAS monitoring harness in the insert (3) and frame (5).
(e) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) connector (4051VC-A) to the right TRAS track lock harness.
1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(f) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring harness connectors (4055VC-A) and (4054VC-A) to the right TRAS monitoring harness (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-61-400-813).
(g) Wind tape (Material No.PU1-0012) or equivalent (Ref. AMM TASK 70-30-00-918-803) around the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) as necessary to make sure the harness is tight in the two spring clips and two inserts (13).
(h) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) in the two spring clips on the rear ramp bracket.
(i) Put the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) in the two inserts (13).
(j) Attach the two inserts (13), the two frames (12) and the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) to the rear ramp bracket. Use the four bolts (15) and the four washers (14).
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (15) at this time.
(k) Put the two clamps (16) on the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1). (l) Attach the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1), the two clamps (16) and the two clamps on the pylon TRAS monitoring harness to the pylon brackets. Use the two screws (18) and the two washers (17). Make sure that the clamps (16) are adjacent to the washers (17).
NOTE: Do not torque the screws (18) at this time.
(m) Connect the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) connector (752VC-A) to the pylon interface. 1 Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - CONNECTOR, JAW, SOFT.
(n) Adjust the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the pylon TRAS track lock harness (1).
(o) Tighten the bolts.
1 TORQUE the bolts (15) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN )

D. Test
(1) Do an operational test of thrust reverser with MCDU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
(2) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802)
(1) Do an operational test of thrust reverser with MCDU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
(2) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802)
