Installation of the Pylon TRAS Monitoring Harness

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-61-420-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Pylon TRAS Monitoring-Harness
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND RECEPTACLE ARE CLEAN WHEN YOU CONNECT THEM. DIRTY CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Install the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1).
     (a) Put the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) in the insert (3) and frame (2).
     (b) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) connectors (4052VC-A) and (4053VC-A) to the left TRAS monitoring-harness.
       1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
     (c) Put the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) in the insert (5) and frame (4).
     (d) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) connectors (4054VC-A) and (4055VC-A) to the right TRAS monitoring-harness.
       1 Turn the connectors finger-tight. Turn the connectors 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
     (e) Wind tape (Material No.PU1-0012) or PU1-0012Atape, glass cloth around the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) as necessary to make a snug fit in the two spring clips and two inserts (7).
     (f) Put the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) in the two spring clips on the rear ramp bracket.
     (g) Put the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) in the two inserts (7).
     (h) Attach the two inserts (7), the two frames (6) and the pylon TRAS motoring-harness (1) to the rear ramp bracket. Use the four bolts (9) and the four washers (8).
NOTE: Do not torque the bolts (9) at this time.
     (i) Put the two clamps (10) on the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1).
     (j) Attach the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the two clamps (10) to the pylon brackets. Use the two screws (12) and the two washers (11).
NOTE: Do not torque the screws (12) at this time.
     (k) Put the clamp (15) on the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1).
     (l) Attach the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) and the clamp (15) to the pylon bracket. Use the screw (14) and washer (13).
NOTE: Do not torque the screws (14) at this time.
     (m) Put the clamp (18) on the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1).
     (n) Attach the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) and clamp (18) to the pylon bracket. Use the screw (16) and washer (17).
NOTE: Do not torque the screws (16) at this time.
     (o) Connect the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) connector (445VC-A) to the pylon interface.
       1 Turn the connector finger-tight. Turn the connector 1/4 turn more with PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
     (p) Attach the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) to the pylon TRAS harness-disconnect-bracket. Use the eight bolts (19) and the eight washers (20).
       1 Tighten the eight bolts (19) with your hand. Then tighten the bolts (19) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn more.
     (q) Connect the harnesses (4089KS) and (4093KS) to the pylon TRAS monitoring-harness (1) connectors (491VC) and (494VC).
       1 Examine, align and engage the connectors.
       2 Push lightly in on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
       3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
       4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
       5 While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
       6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT cannot continue to turn the connector ring.
     (r) Adjust the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1) to keep the preload to a minimum. Make sure that there are no kinks in the pylon TRAS monitoring harness (1).
     (s) Tighten the bolts.
       1 TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 35 and 31.5 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.
     (t) Tighten the screws.
       1 TORQUE the screws (12), (14) and (16) to between 93.8 and 72.6 lbf.in (1.06 and 0.82 m.daN )
T.
     (u) Tighten the bolts on the frames (2) and (4).
       1 Tighten the bolts on the frames (2) and (4) until you fully compress the spring.
5. Close-up

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

D. Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-805).
