C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 75-26-02-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Low Pressure Compressor (LPC) Buffer Air Valve
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.

PRE SB C-75-00-0022A (Initial Design Configuration)

   (2) Install the LPC buffer air valve (3) on the tube (AP22), duct (AP32) and tube (AA25) as follows:
F LPC Buffer Air Valve ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the new EIPC 75-26-02-01-080 GASKET (7) on the tube (AP22) with the paraffin wax blend (Material No.P05-396) or the beeswax (Material No.P05-395) .
     (b) Install the new EIPC 75-26-02-01-090 SEAL (5) on the duct (AP32) with the paraffin wax blend (Material No.P05-396) or the beeswax (Material No.P05-395) .
     (c) Apply the P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the threads of the three bolts (1).
     (d) Install the LPC buffer air valve (3) on the bracket and the tube (AP22) with the three bolts (1) and the three nuts (6).
     (e) Connect the tube (AA25) B-nut to the LPC buffer air valve (3).
     (f) Apply the P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the threads of the coupling (4).
     (g) Install the duct (AP32) on the LPC buffer air valve (3) with the coupling (4).
     (h) Attach the tube (AP22) to the bracket with the two bolts (2).
     (i) TORQUE the three nuts (6) to between 135 and 120 lbf.in (1.53 and 1.36 m.daN ) T.
   (3) Torque the B-nut:
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
     (a) TORQUE the B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
T.
   (4) Torque the coupling:
     (a) TORQUE the coupling (4) to between 80 and 75 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.85 m.daN )
T.
     (b) Tap the coupling (4) with the MALLET - SOFT FACE.
     (c) TORQUE the coupling (4) again to between 80 and 75 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.85 m.daN )
T.
   (5) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

POST SB C-75-00-0022A (LPC Cabin Odor Configuration)

   (6) Install the LPC buffer air valve (3) on the tube (AP22) and the duct (AP32) as follows:
F LPC Buffer Air Valve ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the new EIPC 75-26-02-01-080 GASKET (7) on the tube (AP22) with the paraffin wax blend (Material No.P05-396) or the beeswax (Material No.P05-395) .
     (b) Install the new EIPC 75-26-02-01-090 SEAL (5) on the duct (AP32) with the paraffin wax blend (Material No.P05-396) or the beeswax (Material No.P05-395) .
     (c) Apply the P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the threads of the three bolts (1).
     (d) Install the LPC buffer air valve (3) on the bracket and the tube (AP22) with the three bolts (1) and the three nuts (6).
     (e) Connect the tube (AA25) B-nut to the LPC buffer air valve (3) side port fingertight.
     (f) Connect the manifold (AA37) B-nut to the LPC buffer air valve (3) fingertight.
     (g) Apply the P03-001lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (synthetic base) to the threads of the coupling (4).
     (h) Install the duct (AP32) on the LPC buffer air valve (3) with the coupling (4).
     (i) Attach the tube (AP22) to the bracket with the two bolts (2).
     (j) TORQUE the three nuts (6) to between 135 and 120 lbf.in (1.53 and 1.36 m.daN ) T.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
     (k) TORQUE the tube (AA25) B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
T.
CAUTION: USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
     (l) TORQUE the manifold (AA37) B-nut to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
T.
     (m) TORQUE the coupling (4) to between 80 and 75 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.85 m.daN )
T.
     (n) Tap the coupling (4) with the MALLET - SOFT FACE.
     (o) TORQUE the coupling (4) again to between 80 and 75 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.85 m.daN )
T.
     (p) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )

   (7) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
