Mechanical Cleaning of the Ignition Exciter

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 74-11-05-941-053-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

D. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

E. Get Access
   (1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

F. Remove the exciter box shroud lid (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-000-802).
   (1) Remove the four bolts that attach the exciter box shroud lid to the exciter shroud box.

G. Disconnect the power supply electrical harness connector and the ignition lead (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-000-802).
   (1) Disconnect the power supply electrical harness connector from the electrical input connector on the forward side of the ignition exciter.
   (2) Disconnect the ignition lead from the ignition lead connector on the aft side of the ignition exciter.
4. Procedure
Subtask 74-11-05-140-050-A
A. Clean the Electrical Connector
   (1) Clean the electrical connector with a BRUSH - BRISTLED, FIBER, SOFT and stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) .
   (2) Remove deposits with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

B. Connect the Power Supply and the Ignition Lead
   (1) Connect the ignition lead to the electrical input connector on the aft side of the exciter.
     (a) TORQUE the connector nut to between 162 and 138 lbf.in (1.83 and 1.56 m.daN ) T.
   (2) Connect the power supply electrical harness connector to the electrical input connector on the forward side of the exciter (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).

C. Install the exciter box shroud lid (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-400-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-400-802).
   (1) Install the four bolts that attach the exciter box shroud lid to the exciter shroud box.
   (2) TORQUE the four bolts to between 59 and 51 lbf.in (0.67 and 0.58 m.daN ) T.

D. Remove the safety clips and tags and close these circuit breakers in this sequence:
