Installation of the HJ8B Engine Wiring Harness
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 73-21-60-010-083-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 73-21-60-010-090-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access

A. Installation of the HJ8B Engine Wiring Harness (4159KS)
(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from all the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(4) Install the new EIPC 72-00-00-15-070 FIREPROOF BLOCK (31).
(5) Installation of the bracket assemblies:
(a) Installation of the bracket assembly (25):
1 Install the four bolts (26) and the four nuts (32) to attach the bracket assembly (25) on the fireproof block (31) and the bracket (29) and tighten them with your hand.
2 TORQUE the four nuts (32) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )

(b) Installation of the bracket assembly (28):
1 Install the five bolts (27) and the five nuts (30) to attach the bracket assembly (28) on the fireproof block (31) and the bracket (29) and tighten them with your hand.
2 TORQUE the five nuts (30) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )

(6) Apply the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on the fireproof block (31) around the HJ8B harnesses as follows:
(a) Apply a layer of primer 1200 OS (Material No.CP2244) on both metal surfaces with a PAINTBRUSH or GUN - SPRAY.
(b) Dry for 30 minutes.
(c) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on both surfaces with an applicable applicator to get a uniform dimension bead of approximately 0.20 in. (5 mm) radius.
(d) Let the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) polymerize at ambient temperature and humidity for approximately 24 hours or 30 minutes at 302 deg.F (150 deg.C).
(7) Installation of the bolt on the clamp to attach the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2):

(a) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (21) and (23).

(b) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P810B to the No. 1 bearing accelerometer receptacle J810B (4188KS) (19) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(c) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P88B to the T48 harness (right) receptacle J88B (4168KS2) (18) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(d) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P812 to the HJ8A engine wiring harness receptacle J812 (4158KS) (17) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(e) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P81B to the Fuel Return Valve (FRV) channel B receptacle (4018KS) (16) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(f) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P80B to the fan overheat temperature sensor 1 channel A receptacle (4250KS1) (15) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(g) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P811B to the fan overheat temperature sensor 2 channel B receptacle (4250KS2) (13) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(h) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P82 to the nacelle anti-ice pressure sensor 2 (4002DN) (14) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(i) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P8B to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) channel B J8 receptacle (5) (4601KS2) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(j) Tighten the electrical harness connectors until you cannot see the color marks on the receptacles.
(k) Make sure that the electrical harness connectors do not move after you fully engage them.
(10) Install the segment shroud 2 (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
(11) Install the segment shroud 1 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
(12) Remove the access platform(s).
5. Close-up(1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from all the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(2) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE HARNESS ORIENTATION AND POSITION IN THE CLAMPS GIVE THE MAXIMUM CLEARANCES WITH THE OTHER ENGINE PARTS. IF A CLEARANCE IS NOT SUFFICIENT, HARNESS CHAFING AND WEAR CAN OCCUR.
(3) Install the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) in the correct position in the clips (1) along its routing. (4) Install the new EIPC 72-00-00-15-070 FIREPROOF BLOCK (31).
(5) Installation of the bracket assemblies:
(a) Installation of the bracket assembly (25):
1 Install the four bolts (26) and the four nuts (32) to attach the bracket assembly (25) on the fireproof block (31) and the bracket (29) and tighten them with your hand.
2 TORQUE the four nuts (32) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )
. (b) Installation of the bracket assembly (28):
1 Install the five bolts (27) and the five nuts (30) to attach the bracket assembly (28) on the fireproof block (31) and the bracket (29) and tighten them with your hand.
2 TORQUE the five nuts (30) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN )
. (6) Apply the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on the fireproof block (31) around the HJ8B harnesses as follows:
(a) Apply a layer of primer 1200 OS (Material No.CP2244) on both metal surfaces with a PAINTBRUSH or GUN - SPRAY.
(b) Dry for 30 minutes.
(c) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on both surfaces with an applicable applicator to get a uniform dimension bead of approximately 0.20 in. (5 mm) radius.
(d) Let the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) polymerize at ambient temperature and humidity for approximately 24 hours or 30 minutes at 302 deg.F (150 deg.C).
(7) Installation of the bolt on the clamp to attach the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2):

(a) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolts (21) and (23).

CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST NOT USE PLIERS WITH METAL JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE CONNECTOR. THE METAL JAWS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONNECTOR.
(9) Connection of the HJ8B engine wiring harness (4159KS) (2) connectors to these receptacles (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804). NOTE: Only if necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to connect the electrical connectors.
(a) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P87B to the T3 sensor channel B (4084KS) (22) (at the 2 o'clock position). (b) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P810B to the No. 1 bearing accelerometer receptacle J810B (4188KS) (19) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(c) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P88B to the T48 harness (right) receptacle J88B (4168KS2) (18) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
(d) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P812 to the HJ8A engine wiring harness receptacle J812 (4158KS) (17) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(e) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P81B to the Fuel Return Valve (FRV) channel B receptacle (4018KS) (16) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(f) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P80B to the fan overheat temperature sensor 1 channel A receptacle (4250KS1) (15) (at the 12 o'clock position).
(g) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P811B to the fan overheat temperature sensor 2 channel B receptacle (4250KS2) (13) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(h) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P82 to the nacelle anti-ice pressure sensor 2 (4002DN) (14) (at the 6 o'clock position).
(i) Connect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector P8B to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) channel B J8 receptacle (5) (4601KS2) (at the 3 o'clock position).
(j) Tighten the electrical harness connectors until you cannot see the color marks on the receptacles.
(k) Make sure that the electrical harness connectors do not move after you fully engage them.
(10) Install the segment shroud 2 (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
(11) Install the segment shroud 1 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
(12) Remove the access platform(s).
