3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-60-420-063-A
A. Installation of the HJ5A Engine Wiring Harness (4147KS)
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE HARNESS ORIENTATION AND POSITION IN THE CLAMPS GIVE THE MAXIMUM CLEARANCES WITH THE OTHER ENGINE PARTS. IF A CLEARANCE IS NOT SUFFICIENT, HARNESS CHAFING AND WEAR CAN OCCUR.
   (3) Install the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) in the correct position in the clipping point (2) along its routing.
   (4) Install the new EIPC 72-00-00-15-070 FIREPROOF BLOCK (49).
   (5) Installation of the bracket assemblies:
     (a) Installation of the bracket assembly (43):
       1 Install the four bolts (44) and the four nuts (50) to attach the bracket assembly (43) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47) and tighten them with your hand.
       2 TORQUE the four nuts (50) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.
     (b) Installation of the bracket assembly (46):
       1 Install the five bolts (45) and the five nuts (48) to attach the bracket assembly (46) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47) and tighten them with your hand.
       2 TORQUE the five nuts (48) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.
   (6) Apply the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on the fireproof block (49)around the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) as follows:
     (a) Apply a layer of primer 1200 OS (Material No.CP2244) on both metal surfaces with a PAINTBRUSH or GUN - SPRAY.
     (b) Dry for 30 minutes.
     (c) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on both surfaces with an applicable applicator to get a uniform dimension bead of approximately 0.20 in. (5.1 mm) radius.
     (d) Let the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) polymerize at ambient temperature and humidity for approximately 24 hours or 30 minutes at 302 DEG.F (150 DEG.C).
   (7) Installation of the bolts on the clamps to attach the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1):

     (a) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolt (34).

     (b) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolt (18), bolt (20), bolt (23), bolt (26), bolt (31), bolt (38) and bolt (51).

     (c) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads and friction surfaces of the bolt (18), bolt (31), bolt (38) and bolt (51).

     (d) Install the bolt (41) on the clamp (40) and tighten it with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the bolt (41) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.
     (f) Install the bolt (38) on the clamp (39) and tighten it with your hand.
     (g) TORQUE the bolt (38) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.

POST SB 72-0292

     (h) Install the bolt (34) on the clamp (33) and tighten it with your hand.
     (i) TORQUE the bolt (34) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN ) T.

     (j) Install the bolt (31) on the clamp (32) and tighten it with your hand.
     (k) TORQUE the bolt (31) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
     (l) Install the bolt (51) to the clamp (52) and tighten it with your hand.
     (m) TORQUE the bolt (51) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
PRE SB 72-0444
     (n) Install the bolt (26) on the clamp (27) and tighten it with your hand.
     (o) TORQUE the bolt (26) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
     (p) Install the bolt (23) on the clamp (24) and tighten it with your hand.
     (q) TORQUE the bolt (23) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
     (r) Install the bolt (20) on the clamp (19) and tighten it with your hand.
     (s) TORQUE the bolt (20) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: The cushioned clamp (27) and the bolt (26) are deleted through SB 72-0444 and replaced by spring clip on the support bracket.
NOTE: The cushioned clamp (24) and the bolt (23) are deleted through SB 72-0444 and replaced by spring clip on the support bracket.
NOTE: The cushioned clamp (19) and the bolt (20) are deleted through SB 72-0444 and replaced by spring clip on the support bracket.

     (t) Install the bolt (18) on the clamp (17) and tighten it with your hand.
     (u) TORQUE the bolt (18) to between 36.75 and 33.25 lbf.in (0.42 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
     (v) Install the bolt (8) on the clamp (9) and tighten it with your hand.
     (w) TORQUE the bolt (8) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.

     (x) Install the bolt (10) to the clamp (11) and tighten it with your hand.
     (y) TORQUE the bolt (10) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT USE PLIERS WITH METAL JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE CONNECTOR. THE METAL JAWS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CONNECTOR.
   (8) Connection of the HJ5A engine wiring harness (4147KS) (1) connectors to these receptacles (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
NOTE: Only if necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to connect the electrical connectors.
     (a) Connect the connector socket (12) to the HJ5B engine wiring harness connector (4148KS) (13) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (b) Install the two bolts (14) to attach the connector socket (12) on the bracket (15) and tighten them with your hand.
     (c) TORQUE the two bolts (14) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T.
     (d) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P55A to the fuel metering unit channel A receptacle (4360KS1) (42) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (e) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P57A to the split control unit/servo valve assembly channel A receptacle (4186KS) (37) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
     (f) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P58 to the fuel manifold pressure transducer (4099KS) (36) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
     (g) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P512A to the left variable bleed valve actuator (4167KS) (35) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (h) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P514A to the left modulated turbine cooling actuator (4163KS) (29) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (i) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P513A to the left variable stator vane actuator (4022KS) (30) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (j) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P515A to the nacelle anti-ice (4010DN) (28) (at the 9:30 o'clock position).
     (k) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P510A to the N1 sensor channel A receptacle (4064KS) (25) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (l) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P511A to the T25 channel A receptacle (4083KS) (22) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (m) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P59 to the fuel temperature transducer (4017KS) (21) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
     (n) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P53 to the fuel transmitter (4010KS) (16) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
     (o) Connect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector P5A to the EEC channel A J5 receptacle (4601KS1) (7) (at the 2 o'clock position).
     (p) Tighten the electrical harness connectors until you cannot see the color marks on the receptacles.
     (q) Make sure that the electrical harness connectors do not move after you fully engage them.
   (9) Install the segment shroud 5 (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (10) Install the segment shroud 4 (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (11) Install the segment shroud 3 (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (12) Install the segment shroud 2 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (13) Remove the access platform(s).
