Installation of the T3 Sensor


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-25-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Make sure that the left thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-25-020-051-A
A. Remove all COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.

B. Installation of the T3 Sensor
   (1) Apply CP2619Never Seez-Pure Nickel, Special on the threads of the T3 sensor (1).
   (2) Install the T3 sensor (1) hand-tight in the combustion case threaded insert adapter (23).
   (3) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the threads of the bolt (3), bolts (7), bolt (11) and bolt (24).
   (4) Install the bolt (24) that attaches the loop clamp (25) and the sensor (1) to the bracket (26) hand-tight.
   (5) Install the bolt (11) that attaches the loop clamp (10) and the sensor (1) to the support bracket (8) and support bracket (9) hand-tight.
   (6) Install the bolt (3) that attaches the loop clamp (4) and the T3 sensor (1) tube to the bracket (2) hand-tight.
   (7) Install the two bolts (7) that attach the T3 sensor (1) to the bracket (2) hand-tight.
   (8) Installation of the T3 sensor (1)
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) TORQUE the T3 sensor (1) at the combustion case threaded insert adapter (23) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN ) T and wirelock with CP8006safety cable 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or equivalent.
   (9) TORQUE the two bolts (7) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
T.
   (10) TORQUE the bolt (3), bolt (11) and bolt (24) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
T.
   (11) Connect the electrical connector (5) and electrical connector (6) to the T3 sensor (1) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (12) Put the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) drain tube (13) in position and connect the HPT drain tube (13) hand-tight to the HPT Active Clearance Control (ACC) valve (15).
   (13) Connect the HPT drain tube (18) B-nut hand-tight to the HPT drain tube (13).
   (14) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of bolt (12), bolt (17) and bolt (20).
   (15) Install the bolt (20) that attaches the loop clamp (21) and the HPT drain tube (13) to the support bracket (22) hand-tight.
   (16) Install the bolt (17) that attaches the loop clamp (19) and the HPT drain tube (13) to the support bracket (16) hand-tight.
   (17) Install the bolt (12) that attaches the loop clamp (14) and the HPT drain tube (13) to the support bracket (8) hand-tight.
   (18) TORQUE the HPT drain tube (13) B-nut at the HPT ACC valve (15) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN ) T.
   (19) TORQUE the HPT drain tube (13) B-nut at the HPT drain tube (18) to between 308 and 262 lbf.in (3.48 and 2.96 m.daN )
T.
   (20) TORQUE the bolt (12), bolt (17) and bolt (20) to between 70.2 and 59.8 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN )
T.
   (21) Install the Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) Active Clearance Control (ACC) valve (
Ref. AMM TASK 75-22-05-400-801).
5. Close-up
