1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives the criteria for the visual inspection of the tube and the oil drain tube.

NOTE: The inspection criteria below are applicable after the removal of the high metal with the hand-blending procedure.

NOTE: You can use equivalent alternatives for standard tools, equipment and consumable materials.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-59-84-941-054-A

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:

The ENG/MODE selector switch
The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.

(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

(1) Remove the rear plug assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-41-000-803).
(2) Remove the front plug assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 78-11-40-000-801).

4. Procedure

A. Visual Inspection of the Tube and the Oil Drain Tube
(1) Do a visual inspection of the tube (1) and the oil drain tube (2). Refer to the table below for the inspection of the tubes.

2.Visual inspection of the oil drain tube (2) for:
A.Cracks	Not serviceable	Replace the oil drain tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-400-801).
B.Dents	Not serviceable	Replace the oil drain tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-400-801).

3.Visual inspection for all standard connecting parts:
A.The condition of the corners (21)	Any amount if the correct torque can be kept.
B.Worn, bent, torn, missing thread (22), fully or not	One full thread cumulative or continuous can be missing after removal of damage if at least half of the lead-in thread remains.
C.Safety wire hole (23) deformation, wear	Serviceable if the metal around the hole is not cracked or torn.
D.Safety wire hole (23) tear-out	Serviceable if one hole not torn nor cracked remains.
E.Circumferential scratches in area A2 and area C2	Any amount, up to 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) in depth
F.Circumferential scratches in area B2	Any amount, if not detected with a 0.040 in. (1.02 mm) radius ball scriber.
G.Axial scratches in area A2 and area C2	Any amount, up to 0.005 in. (0.13 mm) in depth
H.Axial scratches in area B2	Not serviceable	Replace the oil drain tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-400-801).
J.Nicks, pits in area C2	Any amount if not more than 0.03 in. (0.8 mm) in depth
K.Nicks, pits in area A2 and area B2	Not serviceable	Replace the oil drain tube (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 72-59-84-400-801).
