C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).D. Get Access
(1) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Replacement of the LPC Case Assembly Borescope Port Insert
(a) This engine maintenance manual repair authorizes only the replacement of original manufacturers helical coil inserts. If there is damage to the hole(s) and an oversized insert is needed, then the repair must not be carried out on-wing. The part must be removed and repaired in accordance with the respective cleaning, inspection and repair manual as applicable.
(2) Find the LPC case assembly. See sheet 1 of the figure:
(3) Remove the fan exit liner segments necessary to gain access to the repair area (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-000-801).
(4) Remove the loose or damaged LPC case assembly borescope port helical coil inserts by SPOP 415 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-803). See sheet 2 of the figure:
(5) Do a visual inspection of the borescope port threaded hole for damage.
(a) Thread damage is not permitted.
(6) Touch-up all repair area(s) and unprotected aluminum surfaces by SPOP 42 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-28-00-910-803).
(7) Apply theP18-023 primer, zinc molybdate to the helical coil inserts, the LPC case assembly mating surfaces and the borescope boss faces of surfaces G and H by SPOP 157 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-28-00-910-806).
(a) You must install the helical coil inserts while the primer is wet.
(8) Install a new helical coil insert in the LPC case assembly borescope port by SPOP 415 (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-803).
(a) Installation of oversized or twin helical coil inserts are not permitted.
(b) The top of the helical coil insert must be one to one and one half threads below the surface G or H.
(9) Remove excess primer after installation.
(10) Do a visual inspection of the repaired area(s) to make sure that the requirements of SPOP 415 are met (Ref. AMM TASK 70-24-00-910-803).
(11) Install the fan exit liner segments as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-08-400-801).
(12) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
