A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-21-11-010-082-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU)
Subtask 71-21-11-010-083-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser HCU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the Thrust Reverser Halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 71-21-11-210-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Examine the front mount tube assembly for cracks, nicks, dents, scratches and scores.
(1) If it is cracked, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(2) If it has no nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear in area C, accept it.
(3) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) in depth in area C, polish-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
(4) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth in area C, blend-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
(5) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear deeper than step (4) or if they are not in area C, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
Subtask 71-21-11-210-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If it is cracked, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(2) If it has no nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear in area C, accept it.
(3) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) in depth in area C, polish-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
(4) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth in area C, blend-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
(5) If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear deeper than step (4) or if they are not in area C, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
B. Examine the front mount tube assembly for contact with the mount tube stopper assembly.
(1) If there is no contact with the bracket of the mount tube stopper assembly nor the fan frame, accept it.
(2) If there is a contact with the bracket of the mount tube stopper assembly or the fan frame, do the following:
(a) Examine the contact area on the front mount tube every day.
1 If the front mount tube touches the mount stopper assembly without any damages, adjust the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 71-20-00-700-010).
2 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) in depth in area C, polish-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
3 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth in area C, blend-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
4 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear more than 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(b) Do a penetrant crack test of the contact area on the front mount tube every day (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-05-230-010). Use a Fluorescent penetrant (Material No.V06-064) . Make sure that there are no cracks on the contact area.
1 If it is cracked, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(c) Replace the mount tube stopper assembly within 200 flight hours (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-03-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-03-400-001).
(d) Examine the front mount tube assembly per step 4.A.
5. Close-up(1) If there is no contact with the bracket of the mount tube stopper assembly nor the fan frame, accept it.
(2) If there is a contact with the bracket of the mount tube stopper assembly or the fan frame, do the following:
(a) Examine the contact area on the front mount tube every day.
1 If the front mount tube touches the mount stopper assembly without any damages, adjust the tube (Ref. AMM TASK 71-20-00-700-010).
2 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.002 in. (0.05 mm) in depth in area C, polish-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
3 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear up to 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth in area C, blend-repair it (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-300-801).
4 If it has nicks, dents, scratches, scores or wear more than 0.0078 in. (0.20 mm) in depth, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(b) Do a penetrant crack test of the contact area on the front mount tube every day (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-05-230-010). Use a Fluorescent penetrant (Material No.V06-064) . Make sure that there are no cracks on the contact area.
1 If it is cracked, replace the front mount tube assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).
(c) Replace the mount tube stopper assembly within 200 flight hours (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-03-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-03-400-001).
(d) Examine the front mount tube assembly per step 4.A.
NOTE: Do this inspection after replacement of the mount tube stopper assembly.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser HCU
(1) Do the re-activation of the thrust reverser HCU after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).
