Removal of the Mount Tube Stopper


1. Reason for the Job
This TASK is for V2500-A1 SBE 72-0150 engines and V2500-A5 engines.
There are two methods to remove/install the mount tube stopper.
Method 1 requires removal/installation of the forward mount support with engine removal.
Method 2 requires unloading of the power plant and uses the WRENCH (IAE1J12511) to turn the forward mount support without engine removal.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

E. Put the Ground Support Equipment in Position
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position to give access to the mount tube stopper.
4. Procedure

A. Method 1: Remove the forward mount support (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-002).

B. Method 1: Remove the Mount Tube Stopper from the Fan Frame Assembly
F Mount Tube Stopper ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the nuts (1) and the screws (2) which attach the stopper (3) to the fan frame assembly.
   (2) Remove the stopper (3).

C. Method 2 : Unload the Power Plant (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-20-000-802).

D. Method 2 : Remove the Mount Tube Stopper from the Fan Assembly
F Mount Tube Stopper ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Attach the IAE1J12511 WRENCH to the hexagonal flange of the engine mount.
   (2) Turn the front mount tube to one side using the special wrench.
   (3) Remove the nut(1) and screw(2) which attach the stopper(3) to the fan frame assembly.
   (4) Turn the front mount tube to the other side using the special wrench.
   (5) Remove the remaining nut(1) and screw(2).
   (6) Remove the stopper(3).
