Installation of the Mount Tube Stopper


1. Reason for the Job
This TASK is for V2500-A1 SBE 72-0150 engines and V2500-A5 engines.
There are two methods to remove/install the mount tube stopper.
Method 1 requires removal/installation of the forward mount support with engine removal.
Method 2 requires unloading of the power plant and uses the WRENCH (IAE1J12511) to turn the forward mount support without engine removal.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE and the MAT - WORK are in position.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowls are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).
4. Procedure

A. Method 1: Install the Stopper on the Fan Frame
F Mount Tube Stopper ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the stopper (3) with the two screws (2) and nuts (1).
   (2) TORQUE the nuts to between 45 and 36 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.41 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).

B. Method 1: Install the forward mount support (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-400-002).

C. Method 2 : Install the Mount Tube Stopper to the Fan Assembly
F Mount Tube Stopper ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Attach the IAE1J12511 WRENCH to the hexagonal flange of the engine mount.
   (2) Turn the front mount tube to one side using the special wrench.
   (3) Install the nut(1), screw(2) and stopper(3) to the fan frame assembly.
   (4) TORQUE the nuts to between 45 and 36 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.41 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
   (5) Turn the front mount tube to the other side using the special wrench.
   (6) Install the nut(1), screw(2) and stopper(3) to the fan frame assembly.
   (7) TORQUE the nuts to between 45 and 36 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.41 m.daN ) T (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).

D. Method 2: Reload the Power Plant (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-20-400-802).

A. Remove the Ground Support Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the workmat from the intake cowl.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
