Pneumatic Leak Test of the Engine EBU Air Ducts
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-00-00-010-206-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 71-00-00-010-207-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access

A. Pneumatic Leak Test
(1) For a typical air supply tube and duct on the engine see the figure.
(2) This figure shows a typical air supply tube and duct, you can use this procedure for any air supply joint:
(4) Put Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) around the pneumatic joints.
(b) Twist the seam of the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) tight as shown in the figure.
(c) Make the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) as tight as possible on the tube but do not rip the foil.
(d) Attach the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) with14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - at both sides of the pneumatic joint.

(5) Apply Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or Ardrox 9D4A (Material No.CP3010) around the pneumatic joints.
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(7) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):

Subtask 71-00-00-790-070-A (1) For a typical air supply tube and duct on the engine see the figure.
(2) This figure shows a typical air supply tube and duct, you can use this procedure for any air supply joint:
- Nacelle Anti-Icing (NAI) systems: both valves and ducts including the NAI valve connected to the air intake.
- Environmental Control System (ECS): on Pressure Regulating Valve (PRV), High Pressure Valve (HPV) and Intermediate Pressure Bleed Check Valve (IPC), ducts up to the pylon interfaces as well as all sensing lines.
- Engine starter duct: from the pylon down to the Starter Air Valve (SAV) to the starter interfaces.
(4) Put Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) around the pneumatic joints.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Wind the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) around the joint one time. (b) Twist the seam of the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) tight as shown in the figure.
(c) Make the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) as tight as possible on the tube but do not rip the foil.
(d) Attach the Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) with

(5) Apply Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or Ardrox 9D4A (Material No.CP3010) around the pneumatic joints.
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(7) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806):

(8) Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-809).
(9) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):

B. Do the pneumatic leak test as follows:
(1) Start the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-827) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-828).
(2) Let the engine become stable for five minutes at minimum idle.
(3) Make sure all the engine parameters are in the permitted limits.
(4) If leak test of engine anti-ice duct is desired, make sure that the anti-ice pressure regulating valve is selected OPEN
(a) On the ANTI ICE section of overhead panel 25VU:
1 Push the ENG1(2) pushbutton switch (the ON legend comes on).
2 After two minutes minimum, release the ENG1(2) pushbutton switch (the ON legend goes off).
(5) When the pressurization of the bleed system is not necessary, stop the air supply (Ref. AMM TASK 36-12-00-860-805) or (Ref. AMM TASK 36-12-00-860-806).
(6) Shutdown the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-829).
Subtask 71-00-00-010-209-A (1) Start the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-827) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-828).
(2) Let the engine become stable for five minutes at minimum idle.
(3) Make sure all the engine parameters are in the permitted limits.
(4) If leak test of engine anti-ice duct is desired, make sure that the anti-ice pressure regulating valve is selected OPEN

F. Inspection
(1) Do an inspection of the joints that you prepared before for leaks as follows.
(2) A joint with Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) will show a rip in the foil if the joint has a leak.
(3) A joint with Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or Ardrox 9D4A (Material No.CP3010) will show a streak if the joint has a leak.
(4) If necessary repair the joints with leaks and test the repaired joints again by the above procedures.
(5) Remove the following items:
14QFB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy - and Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) from all the joints.
(b) Remove the Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or Ardrox 9D4A (Material No.CP3010) .
5. Close-up(1) Do an inspection of the joints that you prepared before for leaks as follows.
(2) A joint with Film-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.14HBB1) will show a rip in the foil if the joint has a leak.
(3) A joint with Cleaner-Hydraulic Spillage Absorbent powder - (Material No.08CKB9) or Ardrox 9D4A (Material No.CP3010) will show a streak if the joint has a leak.
(4) If necessary repair the joints with leaks and test the repaired joints again by the above procedures.
(5) Remove the following items:
