3. Job Set-up

A. Get Access
   (1) In the cockpit, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) on the center pedestal to tell persons not to operate the weather radar.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the windshield at zone 210.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
   (3) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.

4. Procedure
Subtask 56-10-00-220-056-A
A. Check of the Cockpit Windows
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of these cockpit windows from the outside of the aircraft:
     (a) The windshields (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-11-200-001)
     (b) The fixed windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-12-200-001). Examine the busbar of the fixed windows for burn signs.
NOTE: The busbar of the fixed windows can show burn signs.
     (c) The sliding windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-200-001). Examine the busbar of the sliding windows for burn signs.

   (2) Do a detailed inspection of the weather seal from the outside of the aircraft:
     (a) Make sure that the repair of the weather seal occurs at the next inspection (A check or C check) or in less than 10 flight cycles, if:
  • You can see the metal Z retainer below the windshield weather seals, or
  • The erosion expands to the glass edges of the lateral windows.
       1 For the PPG supplier windshield (Part Number (P/N) NP-165311-1, P/N NP-165311-2, P/N NP-165311-3 and P/N NP-165311-4 until the application of Amendment B), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the outboard glass edge.
       2 For the PPG supplier windshield with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N NP-165311-3 and P/N NP-165311-4 until the application of Amendment C), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that the sealant is in the correct condition.
       3 For the PPG supplier windshield with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N NP-165311-5, P/N NP-165311-6, P/N NP-165311-7, P/N NP-165311-8, P/N NP-165331-1 and P/N NP-165331-2), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the stainless-steel Z section.
       4 For the SGS supplier windshield (P/N STA320-1-3-1, P/N STA320-2-3-1, P/N STA320-1-4-1, P/N STA320-2-4-1, P/N STA320-1-5-1, P/N STA320-2-5-1, P/N STA320-1-6-1 and P/N STA320-2-6-1), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the silirite composite material.
       5 For the SGS supplier windshield with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N STA320-1-7-1, P/N STA320-2-7-1, P/N STA320-1-8-2, P/N STA320-2-8-2, P/N STA320-1-9-3 and P/N STA320-2-9-3), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the stainless-steel Z section.
       6 For the PILKINGTON supplier windshield with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N 06282 and P/N 06283), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the stainless-steel Z section.
       7 For the SGS supplier sliding-windows with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N SPSA320-3-3-2 and P/N SPSA320-4-3-2), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that the sealant is in the correct condition.
       8 For the SGS supplier fixed-windows with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N SPSA320-5-2-2 and P/N SPSA320-6-2-2), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that the sealant is in the correct condition.
       9 For the PPG supplier fixed-windows with a stainless-steel Z section (P/N NP165333XX), make sure that there are no cracks or erosion and that you cannot see the stainless-steel Z section.
   (3) If you find damage, repair the weather seal of:
     (a) The windshields (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-11-300-001)
     (b) The fixed windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-12-300-002)
     (c) The sliding windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-300-003).
   (4) Do a detailed inspection of the edge seal (applicable only to the acrylic side windows of the GKN supplier):
     (a) Make sure that there are no cracks or missing materials and that you cannot see the outboard acrylic edge.
     (b) If you find damage, repair the edge seal of:
   (5) Do a detailed inspection of the busbar of these cockpit windows from the outside of the aircraft:
     (a) The windshields (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-11-200-001)
     (b) The fixed windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-11-12-200-001)
     (c) The sliding windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-200-001).
5. Close-up
