A. Repair of the Windshield Weather Seal
(1) Examine the seal for erosion, cracks and bond to the glass surface.
(2) Use the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant with cracks or loose or damaged sealant.
(3) Clean the windshield weather seal with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Apply TAPE - ADHESIVE around the edges of the glass pane.
(5) Apply Adhesion Promoter-For Polysulfide Sealant - - (Material No.06PAG1) on the windshield weather seal before you apply Polysulfide Sealant-Windshield Fillet - (Material No.06AFB1) .
(b) For the PPG windshield, but not for PPG windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns NP-165311-1 to NP-165311-4 change B), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003204).
(c) For the SGS windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns STA320-1-7 to STA320-2-8), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003202).
(d) For the PPG windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns NP-165311-5/6/7/8 and NP-165331-1/2), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003206).
(e) For the PPG windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns NP-165311-3/4 change C), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003206).
(f) For the GKN windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns 06282 and 06283), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003208).
(g) For the GKN windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns 25022 and 25023), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003208).
(7) Remove the TAPE - ADHESIVE.
(8) Clean the windshield (Ref. AMM TASK 56-10-00-110-001).
5. Close-up(1) Examine the seal for erosion, cracks and bond to the glass surface.
(2) Use the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant with cracks or loose or damaged sealant.
(3) Clean the windshield weather seal with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Apply TAPE - ADHESIVE around the edges of the glass pane.
(5) Apply Adhesion Promoter-For Polysulfide Sealant - - (Material No.06PAG1) on the windshield weather seal before you apply Polysulfide Sealant-Windshield Fillet - (Material No.06AFB1) .
NOTE: The sealant cure time and the mixing ratio are given in the sealant-kit manufacturer instructions.
(6) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Windshield Fillet - (Material No.06AFB1) on the windshield weather seal to get the dimensions given in the figure: NOTE: The sealant cure time and the mixing ratio are given in the sealant-kit manufacturer instructions.
(a) For the SGS windshield, but not for the SGS windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns STA320-1-3 to STA320-2-6), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003200). (b) For the PPG windshield, but not for PPG windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns NP-165311-1 to NP-165311-4 change B), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003204).
(c) For the SGS windshield with a stainless steel Z section (P/Ns STA320-1-7 to STA320-2-8), use the 98D56103003000 SPATULA-WEATHER SEAL (98D56103003202).
