(2) Clean the hinge arm (10) with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If necessary, prepare the replacement components, SRM 553642.
(5) Make sure that the bushes (4) are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 27-21-41-200-001).
(6) If necessary, replace the AIPC 27-21-04-15-040 BUSHES (4).
(7) Apply the zinc chromate putty Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bushes (4) and install the bushes (4).
(9) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the rudder hinge bolt (1).
(10) Put the hinge fitting (11) in position and install the rudder hinge bolt (1) and the slotted nut (7).
(11) Use the SL90-322-5625 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454 and TORQUE the slotted nut (7) to between 3.15 and 2.85 m.daN (23.23 and 21.02 lbf.ft )

(12) Use the SL90-313-5625 TOOL - INSTALLATION, TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA5454 and install the tab washer (6) on the slotted nut (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
(13) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) on the faces of the hinge fitting (11) and the deflector plate (9).
(14) Align the hinge fitting (11) with the hinge arm (10) of the vertical stablizer. Put the deflector plate (9) in position and install the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211.
(15) Put the bonding strip (5) in position and install the bolt (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(16) Tighten the bolt (8).
(17) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the edges of the hinge fitting (11).

(2) Apply the zinc chromate putty Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bushes (8) and (1) and install the bushes (8) and (1).
(4) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the rudder hinge pin (11).
(5) Install the rudder hinge pin (11) and the slotted nut (2).
(6) Use the WRENCH - STANDARD and TORQUE the slotted nut (2) to between 12.6 and 11.4 m.daN (92.92 and 84.07 lbf.ft ).
(7) Use the SL90-349-7500 TOOL-INSTALLATION,TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA5454 and install the tab washer (3) on the slotted nut (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
(8) Install the rudder support strut (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 55-36-48-400-001).
(9) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) on the faces of the hinge fitting (7) and the deflector plate (4).
(10) Put the hinge fitting (7) and the deflector plate (4) in position and install the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211.
(11) Put the bonding strip (5) in position and install the bolt (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(12) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the edges of the hinge fitting (7).

(2) Make sure that the bushes (4) are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 27-21-41-200-001).
(3) If necessary, replace the AIPC 27-21-04-15-040 BUSHES (4) or AIPC 27-21-84-14-050 BUSHES (4).
(4) Apply the zinc chromate putty Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bushes and install the bushes (4).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
(2) Make sure that the applicable trailing edge access-panels and the rudder fairings are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 53-55-12-000-001).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 10M (33 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is(are) in position.
(4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons:

IF YOU MUST REPLACE MORE THAN ONE VERTICAL STABILIZER HINGE ARM, DO NOT REMOVE THE RUDDER. IF YOU REMOVE THE RUDDER, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE RUDDER WILL NOT BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED WHEN YOU INSTALL IT AGAIN.
A. Install the hinge fittings No. 1 thru 5 NOTE: The installation procedures are given for the hinge fitting No. 1. The installation procedures for the hinge fittings No. 2 thru No.5 are almost the same.
NOTE: Only replace one hinge fitting at a time.
(1) If necessary, remove unwanted sealant from the hinge arm (10) with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC. (2) Clean the hinge arm (10) with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If necessary, prepare the replacement components, SRM 553642.
(5) Make sure that the bushes (4) are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 27-21-41-200-001).
(6) If necessary, replace the AIPC 27-21-04-15-040 BUSHES (4).
(7) Apply the zinc chromate putty Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bushes (4) and install the bushes (4).
NOTE: Make sure that the bottom bush does not fall out.
(8) Install the retaining-plate (3) and the washer (2). (9) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the rudder hinge bolt (1).
(10) Put the hinge fitting (11) in position and install the rudder hinge bolt (1) and the slotted nut (7).
(11) Use the SL90-322-5625 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454 and TORQUE the slotted nut (7) to between 3.15 and 2.85 m.daN (23.23 and 21.02 lbf.ft )
. (12) Use the SL90-313-5625 TOOL - INSTALLATION, TAB WASHERS STA-LOK NSA5454 and install the tab washer (6) on the slotted nut (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
(13) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) on the faces of the hinge fitting (11) and the deflector plate (9).
(14) Align the hinge fitting (11) with the hinge arm (10) of the vertical stablizer. Put the deflector plate (9) in position and install the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211.
(15) Put the bonding strip (5) in position and install the bolt (8) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(16) Tighten the bolt (8).
(17) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the edges of the hinge fitting (11).
NOTE: Obey the sealant manufacturers curing time instructions before you apply structure paints.
(18) Apply the Coating-- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the edges of the hinge fitting (11). CAUTION:
IF YOU MUST REPLACE MORE THAN ONE VERTICAL STABILIZER HINGE ARM, DO NOT REMOVE THE RUDDER. IF YOU REMOVE THE RUDDER, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE RUDDER WILL NOT BE CORRECTLY ALIGNED WHEN YOU INSTALL IT AGAIN.
B. Install the hinge fitting on the rudder bearing No. 6 NOTE: Only replace one hinge fitting at a time.
(1) If necessary, prepare the replacement components, SRM 553642. (2) Apply the zinc chromate putty Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bushes (8) and (1) and install the bushes (8) and (1).
NOTE: Make sure that the bottom bush does not fall out.
(3) Install the retaining plate (9) and the washer (10). (4) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the rudder hinge pin (11).
(5) Install the rudder hinge pin (11) and the slotted nut (2).

(9) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) on the faces of the hinge fitting (7) and the deflector plate (4).
(10) Put the hinge fitting (7) and the deflector plate (4) in position and install the Hi-Lock rivets SRM 514211.
(11) Put the bonding strip (5) in position and install the bolt (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(12) Apply the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the edges of the hinge fitting (7).
NOTE: Obey the sealant manufacturers curing time instructions before you apply structure paints.
(13) Apply the Coating-- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the edges of the hinge fitting (7). CAUTION:

NOTE: Obey the sealant Manufacturers curing time instructions before you apply structure paints.
(14) Apply the Coating-- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the edges of the hinge fitting (7). D. Test
(1) Do the functional test of the rudder mechanical control after replacement of the rudder hinge-arm fittings (Ref. AMM TASK 27-21-00-720-003).

(1) Close the access of the hinge fittings No. 1 thru No. 5.
(a) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(b) Install the trailing edge access-panels 325BL 325CL 325DL 325BR 325CR 325DR (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-400-001).
(c) Install the rudder fairings 325AL 325AR (Ref. AMM TASK 53-55-12-400-001).
(d) Remove the warning notices from the aircraft.
(e) Remove the rigging pins from the rudder cable quadrant and the rudder control unit.
(f) Remove the access platform(s).
(g) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 55-36-41-410-053-A (1) Close the access of the hinge fittings No. 1 thru No. 5.
(a) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(b) Install the trailing edge access-panels 325BL 325CL 325DL 325BR 325CR 325DR (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-400-001).

(e) Remove the access platform(s).
(f) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

(a) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(b) Install the trailing edge access-panels 325EL 325ER (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-400-001).
(c) Install the vertical stabilizer tip 324AT (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-400-001).
(d) Remove the warning notices from the aircraft.
(e) Remove the access platform(s).
(f) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
C. Close Access
(1) Close the access of the hinge fitting No. 7.
(a) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(b) Install the trailing edge access-panels 325EL 325ER (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-400-001).
(c) Install the access panel 326CT at the rudder attach fitting No. 7 (Ref. AMM TASK 55-42-13-400-001).
(d) Install the vertical stabilizer tip 324AT (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-400-001).
(e) Remove the warning notices from the aircraft.
(f) Remove the access platform(s).
(g) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
Subtask 55-36-41-865-054-A (1) Close the access of the hinge fitting No. 7.
(a) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(b) Install the trailing edge access-panels 325EL 325ER (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-400-001).
(c) Install the access panel 326CT at the rudder attach fitting No. 7 (Ref. AMM TASK 55-42-13-400-001).
(d) Install the vertical stabilizer tip 324AT (Ref. AMM TASK 55-34-11-400-001).
(e) Remove the warning notices from the aircraft.
(f) Remove the access platform(s).
(g) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
