A. Prepare the Vertical Stabilizer for Installation
   (1) Clean all vertical stabilizer attach fittings with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Naphta based and Alcohol - (Material No.08BBC1) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 55-31-11-420-053-B
B. Installation of the Vertical Stabilizer
   (1) Put the CRANE 1000KG (2200 LB) with the 98A55308440001 SLING-UNIVERSAL,TAILPLANE in position. Attach the cables to the lift lugs.
   (2) Remove the support connections and lift the vertical stabilizer clear of the support. Move it to the install position on the aircraft.
   (3) Operate the crane and slowly tighten the sling cables and adjust the turnbuckles as necessary to get an equal tension.
   (4) Install the 98D55307503001 CENTERING BOLT SET - VERTICAL STABILIZER in the forward attach-fittings.
   (5) Install the 98D55307503001 CENTERING BOLT SET - VERTICAL STABILIZER in the aft attach-fittings.
   (6) Install the split sleeves and the attach bolts:
     (a) At the forward attach-fittings, install the split sleeves (35) from inboard. At the mid and the aft attach-fittings, install the split sleeves (35) from outboard.
     (b) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the mid attach-fitting split sleeves (35) and install them.
CAUTION: APPLY AND KEEP A CONTINUOUS PRESSURE WITH YOUR HAND TO THE INBOARD SIDE OF THE SPLIT SLEEVE. THIS MAKES SURE THAT THE SLEEVE STAYS FLUSH AT THE FITTING UNTIL YOU INSTALL AND TORQUE THE TAPERED BOLT AND THE NUT. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE SPLIT SLEEVE.
     (c) Apply the Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the mid attach-fitting bolts (36) and install them.
     (d) Install, but do not tighten the nuts (34) and the washers (45) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
     (e) Do steps (a) to (c) for the forward and then the aft attach-fittings.
NOTE: Only remove one centering bolt at a time and install a split sleeve.
   (7) Move the stabilizer until the distance 'X' is more than 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) at each fitting.
   (8) Use the WRENCH - STANDARD and do the steps that follow:
     (a) TORQUE the nuts (34) to between 31.5 and 28.5 m.daN (232.30 and 210.18 lbf.ft ) T.
     (b) Loosen the nuts (34) to between 7.35 and 6.65 m.daN (54.20 and 49.04 lbf.ft )
