A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Green, Blue and/or Yellow hydraulic system is(are) depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) Make sure that the vertical stabilizer and horizontal stabilizer are safe.
(3) Make sure that access panel 325DL is open (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-010-002).
(4) Make sure that access panels 325EL, 325ER and 325DR are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-010-002).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(6) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position.

Subtask 55-36-48-420-051-A
A. Install the Rudder Support Strut
(1) Put the rudder support strut (9) in position.
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire (8) from the nuts (7).
(b) Loosen the nuts (7).
(c) Turn the fork-ends (6) to adjust the length.
(d) Tighten the nuts (7).
(e) Safety the nuts (7) with the14QFC1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES - (8).
(3) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolts (1) and install them.
(4) Install the washers (3) and the nuts (4).
(5) Use the SL90-315-3750 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454 to safety the nuts (4) with the lockwashers (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
(6) Install the AIPC 27-21-04-15-240 COTTER PIN (2) or AIPC 27-21-84-14-090 COTTER PIN (2).
(7) Remove the 98D27207508000 FIXTURE - VERT. STABILIZER RUDDER.
(8) If installed, remove the 98A55308440000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,TAIL PLANE and the CRANE 200KG (440 LB).
(9) Make sure that the gap between the slotted nut (10) and the bush (11) is 2.75 +0.5 mm or -0.5 mm (0.1083 +0.0197 in. or -0.0197 in.).
Subtask 55-36-48-865-052-A (1) Put the rudder support strut (9) in position.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(2) If you install a new rudder support strut (9) adjust the length of the strut as follows: (a) Remove and discard the lockwire (8) from the nuts (7).
(b) Loosen the nuts (7).
(c) Turn the fork-ends (6) to adjust the length.
(d) Tighten the nuts (7).
(e) Safety the nuts (7) with the
(3) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the bolts (1) and install them.
(4) Install the washers (3) and the nuts (4).
(5) Use the SL90-315-3750 WRENCH - NOTCHED, TIGHTENING OF NUTS NSA5454 to safety the nuts (4) with the lockwashers (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-22-00-400-001).
(6) Install the AIPC 27-21-04-15-240 COTTER PIN (2) or AIPC 27-21-84-14-090 COTTER PIN (2).
(7) Remove the 98D27207508000 FIXTURE - VERT. STABILIZER RUDDER.
(8) If installed, remove the 98A55308440000 SLING-UNIVERSAL,TAIL PLANE and the CRANE 200KG (440 LB).
(9) Make sure that the gap between the slotted nut (10) and the bush (11) is 2.75 +0.5 mm or -0.5 mm (0.1083 +0.0197 in. or -0.0197 in.).
B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the access platform(s).
(6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
