A. Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
Subtask 27-21-41-010-053-A B. Get Access
Make sure that you only remove one hinge bolt or rudder servo-control attachment-bolt at a time.
(2) Get access (for the inspection of hinge fittings no. 1 thru 5 and no. 7 at the installed rudder):
(a) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(b) Remove the access panels 325BL 325BR 325CL 325CR 325DL 325DR 325EL 325ER at the trailing edge of the vertical stabilizer (Ref. AMM TASK 55-33-13-010-002).
(c) Remove the access panels 325AL 325AR (Ref. AMM TASK 53-55-12-000-001).
(d) Open the access door 312AR.
(3) Get access (only for inspection of hinge fitting no. 6):
(a) Remove the rudder (Ref. AMM TASK 27-21-41-000-001).
Subtask 27-21-41-860-055-A NOTE: You can do the inspection of the hinge fittings no. 1 thru 5 and no. 7 for wear without removal of the rudder.
It is also possible to do the measurement of the related items at the hinge fitting no. 6 but the access on the installed rudder is very difficult.
AIRBUS recommends the removal of the rudder to do the inspection on hinge fitting no. 6.

NOTE: If you have removed the rudder, it is only necessary to do the check of the related attach fittings on the rudder side and the related actuator arm which is attached to the rudder.
If you also want to measure the VTP side, remove the rudder servo controls to do the complete measurement which is given in the task 'Check of the rudder servo control attachments'.
If you also want to measure the VTP side, remove the rudder servo controls to do the complete measurement which is given in the task 'Check of the rudder servo control attachments'.
H. Measurement of the Inner Dimensions of the Bearings and Bushes of the Rudder Hinge-Arm Attach-Fittings
(1) Make sure that the inner dimension of the bearings (15), (16) and (19) is between 14.2748 mm (0.5620 in.) and 14.2875 mm (0.5625 in.).
(a) If the dimension is not correct:
1 Replace the rudder hinge-arm attach-fitting(s) SRM 553642.
(a) No wear is permitted.
(3) Make sure that the inner dimension of the bushes (18) is between 29.000 mm (1.1417 in.) and 29.033 mm (1.1430 in.).
(a) If the dimension is not correct:
1 Replace the rudder hinge-arm attach-fitting(s) SRM 553642.
(a) No play is permitted.
Subtask 27-21-41-220-064-A (1) Make sure that the inner dimension of the bearings (15), (16) and (19) is between 14.2748 mm (0.5620 in.) and 14.2875 mm (0.5625 in.).
