3. Job Set-up
Subtask 54-57-22-941-107-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is set to the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch is in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
   (1) Make sure that the applicable thrust reverser is unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
Subtask 54-57-22-010-096-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the applicable pylon lateral access-doors are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-001):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]
   (2) Make sure that the applicable forward lower fairings are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-000-001):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]
   (3) Make sure that the applicable thrust reverser doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]
   (4) Make sure that the access platform and the stepladder are in position:
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this step:
  • One person must use the access platform to get access to the top of the pylon.
  • A second person must use the stepladder to get access to the area between the pylon and the engine.
     (a) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE and the STEPLADDER 2.0 M (6.6 FT) are in position:
       1 For the left pylon, at zone 410
       2 For the right pylon, at zone 420.
4. Procedure
Subtask 54-57-22-420-085-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Firewall Assembly
   (1) Put the firewall assembly (10) in position on the pylon structure and install the bolts (1) and the nuts (11).
NOTE: Two persons are necessary for this step:
  • One person must install the bolts (1) through applicable pylon lateral access-doors 415AL, 425AR, 415AR or 425AL.
  • One person must install the nuts (11) below the pylon.
   (2) Install the washers (6), the bolts (7) and the nuts (4).
   (3) Install the washers (3) and (12) and the bolts (2) and (13).
   (4) Install the bolts (8) and (15) and the nuts (5) and (16).
   (5) Tighten the nuts (11).
   (6) Tighten the nuts (4).
   (7) Tighten the bolts (2) and (13).
   (8) Tighten the nuts (5) and (16).
   (9) Install the the seals (9) and (14).
5. Close-up
Subtask 54-57-22-410-084-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE and the STEPLADDER 2.0 M (6.6 FT).
   (3) Close the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]
   (4) Install the forward lower fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 54-56-00-400-001):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]
   (5) Install the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-400-001):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1]
     (b) FOR [4020KM2]

B. Reactivation of the Thrust Reverser
   (1) Make the applicable thrust reverser serviceable after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-081-041).
