Removal of the Lower Fairing
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

Forward Lower FairingSubtask 54-56-00-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-56-00-040-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon in zone 480.
(2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 475AL 476AR
(b) For the right pylon: 485AL 486AR.
Subtask 54-56-00-010-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon in zone 480.
(2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 475AL 476AR
(b) For the right pylon: 485AL 486AR.
C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon in zone 480.
(2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 475AL 475AR
(b) For the right pylon: 485AL 485AR.
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon in zone 470
(b) For the right pylon in zone 480.
(2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-002):
(a) For the left pylon: 475AL 475AR
(b) For the right pylon: 485AL 485AR.
Subtask 54-56-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Forward Lower Fairing
(1) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (1).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the Forward lower fairing (3):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AR and 473AL
(b) For the right pylon: 483AR and 483AL.
Subtask 54-56-00-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the screws (2) and the washers (1).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the Forward lower fairing (3):
(a) For the left pylon: 473AR and 473AL
(b) For the right pylon: 483AR and 483AL.
B. Removal of the Aft Lower Fairing
(1) Remove the screws (11), the washers (12) and the screw supports (13).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the aft lower fairing (21):
(a) for the left pylon: 473CL
(b) For the right pylon: 483CL.
Subtask 54-56-00-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the screws (11), the washers (12) and the screw supports (13).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the aft lower fairing (21):
(a) for the left pylon: 473CL
(b) For the right pylon: 483CL.
C. Removal of the Center Lower Fairing
(1) Remove the nuts (31) and the bolts (32).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the center lower fairing (33):
(a) For the left pylon : 473BL
(b) For the right pylon : 483BL.
(1) Remove the nuts (31) and the bolts (32).
(2) Disengage the centering pin and remove the center lower fairing (33):
(a) For the left pylon : 473BL
(b) For the right pylon : 483BL.
