WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOOR IF THE WIND SPEED IS MORE THAN 65 KNOTS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE DOOR, MAKE SURE THAT:
  • THE EMERGENCY CONTROL HANDLE IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
  • THE PERCUSSION LEVER OF THE DOOR-DAMPER AND EMERGENCY-OPERATION CYLINDER IS IN THE DISARMED POSITION WITH THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THE DOOR CAN OPEN WITH FORCE OR THE ESCAPE SLIDE CAN DEPLOY SUDDENLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING: STOP THE OPENING PROCEDURE IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES. IF THE RED WARNING LIGHT FLASHES, REMAINING PRESSURE CAN CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN SUDDENLY AND CAN:
  • KILL OR CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS
  • CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in front of forward passenger/crew door 831.
   (2) Open the passenger/crew door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Obey the special precautions before you start work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001).
   (4) Close the door from the inner side of the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).

A. Test of the Emergency Escape-Slide Release-System
WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THE PASSENGER/CREW DOORS.
   (1) Do the tests that follow:
     (a) Do the tests in paragraphs 1 thru 5 for the forward passenger/crew door (831/841) and for the aft passenger/crew door (832/842).
NOTE: The SLIDE ARMED indicator light (1WN1/1WN2) is on at the forward passenger/crew door (831/841). The SLIDE ARMED indicator light (3WN1/3WN2) is on at the aft passenger/crew door (832/842).
NOTE: If the task is for FAA MMEL 52-70-01, only the information related to the "SLIDE" indication on the ECAM "DOOR/OXY" page is applicable.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the lower ECAM DU:
  • Open the "DOOR/OXY" page.
On the lower ECAM DU, on the "DOOR/OXY" page:
  • The green symbol for the passenger/crew door comes into view.
2.On the emergency control-handle mechanism of the passenger/crew door:
  • Remove the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING.
  • Set the emergency control handle to the ARMED position.
On the lower ECAM DU, on the "DOOR/OXY" page:
  • The white "SLIDE" message comes into view.

On the passenger/crew door:
  • The SLIDE ARMED indicator light is off.
3.On the passenger/crew door:
  • Hold the door and pull the inner control handle of the door up until the visual indicator shows UNLOCKED.
On the lower ECAM DU, on the "DOOR/OXY" page:
  • The "CABIN" message and the amber symbol for the passenger/crew door come into view.
  • The white "SLIDE" message stays shown.

On the passenger/crew door:
  • The SLIDE ARMED indicator light comes on.
4.On the passenger/crew door:
  • Push the inner control handle of the door down until the visual indicator shows LOCKED.
On the passenger/crew door:
  • The SLIDE ARMED indicator light goes off.

On the lower ECAM DU, on the "DOOR/OXY" page:
  • The symbol for the passenger/crew door becomes green.
  • The "CABIN" message goes out of view.
5.On the passenger/crew door:
  • Set the emergency control handle to the DISARMED position.
  • Install the 98D52103500000 SAFETY PIN - SLIDE ARMING.
On the lower ECAM DU, on the "DOOR/OXY" page:
  • The white "SLIDE" message goes out of view.

   (2) Obey the special precautions after you do the work on the door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002).
   (3) Close forward passenger/crew door 831 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
