USE ONLY APPROVED TYPES/BRANDS OF LUBRICANTS.
NOTE: Top-Off is an oil change procedure to a different oil brand but not to a different oil type.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
(3) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
Subtask 49-90-00-865-070-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW p/bsw is OFF.
(3) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the ON position.
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the ON position.
WARNING:
USE THE CORRECT PERSONAL PROTECTION.
OIL CAN HAVE ADDITIVE CALLED TRICRESYL PHOSPHATE IN IT. THIS CHEMICAL IS AN ASPHYXIANT, IT IS POISONOUS AND CAN BE ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN.
USE CARE WHEN ENGINE OIL IS DRAINED. HOT OIL CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE BAD BURNS.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
Subtask 49-90-00-612-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Examine Oil Brand Change, Oil Level and Replenish
(1) Check the oil level on the sight glass.
(3) Make sure that the filler cap is clean.
(a) Pull the lock and slowly open the filler cap to release any pressure from the APU.
(4) Add the oil.
(5) Close and lock the filler cap.
(6) Remove the remaining oil from the gravity oil filler and dry it with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(7) If you fill the APU oil reservoir with an oil which is of a new brand:
(a) Replace the oil placard to show the new oil brand correctly.
(b) Make an entry in the logbook that the APU oil reservoir is filled with a new oil brand.
(8) Remove the container.
Subtask 49-90-00-410-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Check the oil level on the sight glass.
NOTE: Do the Oil level inspection check and servicing a minimum of 15 minutes after the last shutdown. Do not re-service before the APU is operated again.
NOTE: If the oil level is at the FULL mark on the sight glass, do not add oil to the APU.
(2) Put the CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) in position below the APU filling port to collect oil overflow. (3) Make sure that the filler cap is clean.
(a) Pull the lock and slowly open the filler cap to release any pressure from the APU.
(4) Add the oil.
WARNING:
PUT THE OIL INTO THE GRAVITY-FILL PORT SLOWLY. THIS WILL PREVENT A BLOW-BACK OF HOT OIL WHICH CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
DO NOT FILL THE GEARBOX ABOVE THE FULL MARK ON THE SIGHT GLASS. DURING APU OPERATION THE OIL EXPANDS WHICH COULD CREATE AN OVER-FILLED CONDITION RESULTING IN LEAKAGE AND POSSIBLE OIL SMELL IN THE CABIN.
CAUTION:
USE ONLY APPROVED TYPES/BRANDS OF LUBRICANTS. DO NOT MIX TYPES OF LUBRICANTS (TYPE 1 3-CTS OIL WITH TYPE 2 5-CTS OIL). DO NOT MIX OILS OF DIFFERENT BRANDS MORE THAN NECESSARY.
(a) Slowly add the oil until the level in the APU is at the FULL mark. (5) Close and lock the filler cap.
(6) Remove the remaining oil from the gravity oil filler and dry it with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(7) If you fill the APU oil reservoir with an oil which is of a new brand:
(a) Replace the oil placard to show the new oil brand correctly.
(b) Make an entry in the logbook that the APU oil reservoir is filled with a new oil brand.
(8) Remove the container.
B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Test
(1) Operate the APU for five minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(2) Open the access door 315AL.
(3) Examine the oil filters for leaks.
5. Close-up(1) Operate the APU for five minutes (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-008) and (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-860-009).
(2) Open the access door 315AL.
(3) Examine the oil filters for leaks.
NOTE: No leaks are permitted.
Subtask 49-90-00-410-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close the APU access door 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).

(2) Set the LIGHT control SW 11LJ to the OFF position.
(3) Close the APU access door 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(1) Put the related hydraulic system in the pressurized configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
