Removal of the APU Mount Brackets (APS 3200)
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT REMOVE MORE THAN ONE APU MOUNT AT A TIME WHEN THE APU IS INSTALLED. THE APU HOIST AND THE REMAINING TWO MOUNTS MUST SUPPORT THE APU WHEN YOU REMOVE AN APU MOUNT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the warning notices on panel 25VU to tell persons not to start the APU.
(2) Energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).

B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001)
(3) Set the light switch 11LJ to on.
(4) Remove the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-21-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-22-000-001).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE below the access doors 315AL and 316AR.
(2) Open the APU access doors 315AL, 316AR. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001)
(3) Set the light switch 11LJ to on.
(4) Remove the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-21-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-22-000-001).

A. Installation of the HOIST- MINILIFT
Subtask 49-12-54-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE (INSTALL) THE APU, DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) ALL THE VIBRATION ISOLATORS AT THE SAME TIME FROM THE APU MOUNT BRACKETS. IF YOU DISENGAGE (ENGAGE) THEM ONE AFTER THE OTHER, THE LOADS WILL NOT BE EQUAL. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TIE RODS.
(1) Install the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-480-001). B. Removal of the APU Mount Brackets
(1) Slowly wind the handle on the APU hoist until the APU hoist-cable is in tension.
(2) Remove the FWD left and FWD-right APU mount-brackets.
(b) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (12) from the setscrew (15) and disconnect the bonding jumper (13).
(c) Temporarily install the nut (11) adjacent to the nut (14) on the setscrew (15). Use the nut (11) as a locknut and remove the setscrew (15) from the FWD APU mount-bracket (17).
(d) Remove the FWD APU mount-nut (16).
(e) Install the 98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS to the vibration isolators.
(f) Remove the bolts (10) from the FWD APU mount-bracket (17).
(g) Carefully pull the FWD APU mount-bracket (17) out and down to disconnect it from the APU and the vibration isolator.
(i) Do a visual inspection of the FWD APU mount-bracket for damage:
1 Make sure that the bolt holes of the bracket are not elongated.
2 Make sure that the surface finish of the tapered hole has not scratches, scores or burrs.
3 Make sure that the thread in the bracket, for the setscrew is not damaged.
4 Make sure that the flange is not bent.
5 Make sure that there are no cracks in the APU mount bracket. If you think there is a crack, do a dye-penetrant inspection.
(j) Do a visual inspection of the setscrew. Replace the setscrew and the nuts if necessary.
(3) Remove the rear APU mount-bracket.
(a) Disconnect the rear vibration isolator (23) from the tie-rods (22) and (28).
1 Remove the cotter pin (18) from the nut (19).
2 Remove the nut (19) and the washer (20) from the bolt (21).
3 Remove the bolt (21) and disconnect the rear right tie-rod (22) from the rear vibration isolator (23).
4 Remove the cotter pins (24) from the nuts (25).
5 Remove the nuts (25) and the washers (26) from the bolts (27).
6 Remove the bolts (27) and disconnect the rear left tie-rod (28) from the rear vibration isolator (23).
(b) Remove the rear APU mount-nut (29) and remove the rear vibration isolator (23) from the rear APU mount-bracket (31).
(c) Install the 98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS to the rear APU mount.
(e) Remove the bolts (30) from the rear APU mount bracket (31).
(f) Carefully pull the rear APU mount-bracket (31) up to remove it from the APU.
(h) Do a visual inspection of the rear APU mount-bracket (31) for damage:
1 Make sure that the bolt holes of the bracket are not elongated.
2 Make sure that the surface finish of the tapered shaft has not scratches, scores or burrs.
3 Make sure that there are no cracks in the rear APU mount-bracket (31). If you think there is a crack, do a liquid-penetrant NTM 511014 inspection.
(1) Slowly wind the handle on the APU hoist until the APU hoist-cable is in tension.
(2) Remove the FWD left and FWD-right APU mount-brackets.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (10) of the FWD APU mount-bracket (17). (b) Remove the nut (11) and the washer (12) from the setscrew (15) and disconnect the bonding jumper (13).
(c) Temporarily install the nut (11) adjacent to the nut (14) on the setscrew (15). Use the nut (11) as a locknut and remove the setscrew (15) from the FWD APU mount-bracket (17).
(d) Remove the FWD APU mount-nut (16).
(e) Install the 98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS to the vibration isolators.
(f) Remove the bolts (10) from the FWD APU mount-bracket (17).
(g) Carefully pull the FWD APU mount-bracket (17) out and down to disconnect it from the APU and the vibration isolator.
NOTE: The FWD APU mount-bracket has a spigot which engages in the APU. This spigot is 9.0906 mm (0.3579 in.) long.
(h) Clean the FWD APU mount-bracket and the setscrew with Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) . (i) Do a visual inspection of the FWD APU mount-bracket for damage:
1 Make sure that the bolt holes of the bracket are not elongated.
2 Make sure that the surface finish of the tapered hole has not scratches, scores or burrs.
3 Make sure that the thread in the bracket, for the setscrew is not damaged.
4 Make sure that the flange is not bent.
5 Make sure that there are no cracks in the APU mount bracket. If you think there is a crack, do a dye-penetrant inspection.
(j) Do a visual inspection of the setscrew. Replace the setscrew and the nuts if necessary.
(3) Remove the rear APU mount-bracket.
(a) Disconnect the rear vibration isolator (23) from the tie-rods (22) and (28).
1 Remove the cotter pin (18) from the nut (19).
2 Remove the nut (19) and the washer (20) from the bolt (21).
3 Remove the bolt (21) and disconnect the rear right tie-rod (22) from the rear vibration isolator (23).
4 Remove the cotter pins (24) from the nuts (25).
5 Remove the nuts (25) and the washers (26) from the bolts (27).
6 Remove the bolts (27) and disconnect the rear left tie-rod (28) from the rear vibration isolator (23).
(b) Remove the rear APU mount-nut (29) and remove the rear vibration isolator (23) from the rear APU mount-bracket (31).
(c) Install the 98A49107504001 PROTECTOR-THREADS,APU MOUNTING BOLTS to the rear APU mount.
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(d) Remove and discard the lockwire from the bolts (30) of the rear APU mount bracket (31). (e) Remove the bolts (30) from the rear APU mount bracket (31).
(f) Carefully pull the rear APU mount-bracket (31) up to remove it from the APU.
NOTE: The rear APU mount-bracket has a spigot which engages in the APU. This spigot is 5.0 mm (0.1969 in.) long.
(g) Clean the rear APU mount-bracket (31) with Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) . (h) Do a visual inspection of the rear APU mount-bracket (31) for damage:
1 Make sure that the bolt holes of the bracket are not elongated.
2 Make sure that the surface finish of the tapered shaft has not scratches, scores or burrs.
3 Make sure that there are no cracks in the rear APU mount-bracket (31). If you think there is a crack, do a liquid-penetrant NTM 511014 inspection.
