Installation of the APU Hoist Tool
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.
1. Reason for the JobInstall the APU HOIST MINILIFT before you do any of the subsequent procedures:
- removal and installation of the APU.
- detailed visual inspection of APU suspension rods, shockmounts structure including brackets and visible part of attachment fittings.
- detailed inspection of the tie-rod assemblies.
- removal and installation of the FWD LH vibration isolator 4035KM.
- removal and installation of the FWD RH vibration isolator 4045KM.
- removal and installation of the AFT vibration isolator.
- removal and installation of the APU mount brackets 4065KM, 4075KM and 4085KM.

Subtask 49-00-00-860-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the warning notices on panel 25VU to tell persons not to start the APU.
(2) Energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
Subtask 49-00-00-865-082-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the warning notices on panel 25VU to tell persons not to start the APU.
(2) Energize the ground service network (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
B. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the APU compartment.
(2) Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Open or remove the APU access door 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-21-000-001).
(5) Remove the oil-cooler outlet duct (Ref. AMM TASK 49-52-41-000-002).
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below the APU compartment.
(2) Open the APU access door 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(3) Open or remove the APU access door 315AL (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-21-000-001).
NOTE: The installation of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT is also possible without a removal of the APU access door 315AL, but a removal will make the installation of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT easier.
(4) Set the light switch 11LJ to on. (5) Remove the oil-cooler outlet duct (Ref. AMM TASK 49-52-41-000-002).
WARNING:
OBEY THE HOISTING SAFETY PROCEDURES.
MAKE SURE THAT THE HOIST IS ASSEMBLED AND ATTACHED CORRECTLY BEFORE YOU PUT A LOAD ON IT. OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THE HOIST.
IF THE HOIST IS IN AN INCORRECT CONDITION THE LOAD CAN MOVE ACCIDENTALLY AND KILL PERSONS OR CAUSE INJURY.
Subtask 49-00-00-480-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT
(1) Do a check and make sure that the components of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT are in the correct condition.
(2) Assemble the components of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) correctly.
(a) Make sure that the APU hoist bracket (1) is in the correct position. No movement or missing parts are permitted.
(b) Make sure that the APU hoist bracket (1) is not out of position.
(c) Make sure that the sealant around the edges of the APU hoist bracket (1) is in good condition.
(d) Make sure that the sealant around the bolt heads of the APU hoist bracket (1) is in good condition. No cracks and/or missing sealant is permitted.
(4) Install the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) to the APU compartment.
(a) Remove the temporarily installed quick release pins (2) and (8) from the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
(b) Put the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) in the correct position and attach it with the quick release pin (2) to the APU hoist bracket (1) on the top firewall of the APU compartment.
(c) Put the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) in the correct position and attach it with the quick release pin (8) to the bearing assy (7) on the LH side of the APU compartment.
(5) Connection of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT cable (3) to the APU.
(a) Connect the shackle assembly (4) to the cable (3) of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
(b) Connect the shackle assembly (4) with the quick release pin (5) to the adapter of the APU (9).
(6) Put the weight of the APU from the APU mounts onto the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
(1) Do a check and make sure that the components of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT are in the correct condition.
(2) Assemble the components of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) correctly.
NOTE: Obey the instructions of the tool manufacturer when you do the check and assemble the components of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the APU hoist bracket (1) to make sure that it is in the correct condition and the installation is correct. (a) Make sure that the APU hoist bracket (1) is in the correct position. No movement or missing parts are permitted.
(b) Make sure that the APU hoist bracket (1) is not out of position.
(c) Make sure that the sealant around the edges of the APU hoist bracket (1) is in good condition.
(d) Make sure that the sealant around the bolt heads of the APU hoist bracket (1) is in good condition. No cracks and/or missing sealant is permitted.
(4) Install the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) to the APU compartment.
(a) Remove the temporarily installed quick release pins (2) and (8) from the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
(b) Put the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) in the correct position and attach it with the quick release pin (2) to the APU hoist bracket (1) on the top firewall of the APU compartment.
(c) Put the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) in the correct position and attach it with the quick release pin (8) to the bearing assy (7) on the LH side of the APU compartment.
(5) Connection of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT cable (3) to the APU.
(a) Connect the shackle assembly (4) to the cable (3) of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
(b) Connect the shackle assembly (4) with the quick release pin (5) to the adapter of the APU (9).
(6) Put the weight of the APU from the APU mounts onto the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10).
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE HOIST HANDLE MORE THAN 90 DEGREES, AFTER YOU REMOVE THE SLACK FROM THE HOIST CABLE.
IF YOU TURN THE HOIST HANDLE MORE THAN 90 DEGREES, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE APU AND THE APU MOUNTS.
(a) Operate the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT (10) until the weight of the APU is removed from the APU mounts. NOTE: Do a check and make sure that the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT is assembled and installed correctly and holds the load.
NOTE: Before you install the hoist handle, turn the upper drum shaft of the A1-91-265 HOIST-MINILIFT with your hand until you have removed the slack from the hoist cable. Then install the hoist handle on the upper drum shaft and turn the handle 90 degrees in a clockwise direction. Thus you make sure that the weight of the APU is removed from the APU mounts.
