(1) Move the APU access door (4) into its removal position as follows:
(a) Operate the control handle (5) so that the APU access door (4) moves into its vertical position.
(b) Remove the pip-pin (6) from its stowage hole and install it into the rigging hole to safety the door linkage mechanism.
(4) Disconnect the door linkage mechanism from the APU access door (4) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17) from the nut (18).
(b) Remove the nut (18), the washers (19) and the bolt (2) from the door hinge fitting (3).
(c) Disengage the eye-end (1) from the door hinge fitting (3).
(5) Hold the APU access door (4) and remove the three quick-release pins (9) from the mounting brackets (8).
(6) Remove the APU access door (4) from the opening of the fuselage.

DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING:
LOCK THE MECHANISM OF THE ACCESS DOOR 316AR WITH THE PIP PIN WHEN YOU OPEN THE ACCESS DOOR. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY.

A. Get Access
(1) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the APU compartment.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to start the APU.
Subtask 52-41-22-865-050-A (1) Open the APU access doors 315AL and 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the APU compartment.

WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PIP-PIN STAYS IN POSITION DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE APU ACCESS DOOR.
A. Removal of the APU Access Door 316AR (1) Move the APU access door (4) into its removal position as follows:
(a) Operate the control handle (5) so that the APU access door (4) moves into its vertical position.
(b) Remove the pip-pin (6) from its stowage hole and install it into the rigging hole to safety the door linkage mechanism.
NOTE: Make sure that the pip-pin (6) is correctly engaged. The pip-pin (6) holds the spring assembly of the door linkage mechanism which has a load of 260 daN (584.5031 lbf) in its extended position.
(2) If installed, remove the air intake diffuser and the elbow: - For APU GTCP 36-300 (Ref. AMM D/O 49-16-45-00)
- For APU APS 3200 (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-45-000-002)
- For APU 131-9(A) (Ref. AMM TASK 49-16-45-000-003).
(4) Disconnect the door linkage mechanism from the APU access door (4) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (17) from the nut (18).
(b) Remove the nut (18), the washers (19) and the bolt (2) from the door hinge fitting (3).
(c) Disengage the eye-end (1) from the door hinge fitting (3).
(5) Hold the APU access door (4) and remove the three quick-release pins (9) from the mounting brackets (8).
(6) Remove the APU access door (4) from the opening of the fuselage.
B. Removal of the Door Linkage Mechanism
(1) Release the tension of the spring assembly (26) as follows:
(b) Turn the screw-bolt (27) until the tension of the spring assembly (26) fully decreased.
(2) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the control handle (32) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (28) from the nut (29).
(b) Remove the nut (29), the washer (30), the bolt (33) and the bushes (31).
(c) Disassemble the connection lever (44) with the washers (40) and the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35).
(3) Pull the pip-pin (34) and remove the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35)
(4) Remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (38) from the nut (37).
(b) Remove the nut (37), the washers (36) and the bolt (41).
(c) Pull the pip-pin (39) and remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting.
(5) Install the pip-pin (39) in the stowage hole of the fuselage fitting.
(6) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the structure fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24) from the nut (25).
(b) Remove the nut (25), the washer (23) and the bolt (21).
(c) Remove the fork fitting (42) and the washers (22) from the structure fitting.
Subtask 52-41-22-020-053-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Release the tension of the spring assembly (26) as follows:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(a) Cut and remove the lockwire from the extension screw part (43) and the screw-bolt (27). (b) Turn the screw-bolt (27) until the tension of the spring assembly (26) fully decreased.
(2) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the control handle (32) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (28) from the nut (29).
(b) Remove the nut (29), the washer (30), the bolt (33) and the bushes (31).
(c) Disassemble the connection lever (44) with the washers (40) and the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35).
(3) Pull the pip-pin (34) and remove the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35)
(4) Remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (38) from the nut (37).
(b) Remove the nut (37), the washers (36) and the bolt (41).
(c) Pull the pip-pin (39) and remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting.
(5) Install the pip-pin (39) in the stowage hole of the fuselage fitting.
(6) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the structure fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24) from the nut (25).
(b) Remove the nut (25), the washer (23) and the bolt (21).
(c) Remove the fork fitting (42) and the washers (22) from the structure fitting.
B. Removal of the Door Linkage Mechanism
(1) Release the tension of the spring assembly (26) as follows:
(b) Turn the screw-bolt (27) until the tension of the spring assembly (26) fully decreased.
(2) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the control handle (32) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (28) from the nut (29).
(b) Remove the nut (29), the washer (30), the bolt (33) and the bushes (31).
(c) Disassemble the connection lever (44) with the washers (40) and the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35).
(3) Pull the pip-pin (34) and remove the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35)
(4) Remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (38) from the nut (37).
(b) Remove the nut (37), the washers (36) and (45) and the bolt (41).
(c) Pull the pip-pin (39) and remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting.
(5) Install the pip-pin (39) in the stowage hole of the fuselage fitting.
(6) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the structure fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24) from the nut (25).
(b) Remove the nut (25), the washer (23) and the bolt (21).
(c) Remove the fork fitting (42) and the washers (22) from the structure fitting.
(1) Release the tension of the spring assembly (26) as follows:

(3) Pull the pip-pin (34) and remove the control handle (32) from the shift lever (35)
(4) Remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (38) from the nut (37).
(b) Remove the nut (37), the washers (36) and (45) and the bolt (41).
(c) Pull the pip-pin (39) and remove the shift lever (35) from the fuselage fitting.
(5) Install the pip-pin (39) in the stowage hole of the fuselage fitting.
(6) Remove the spring assembly (26) from the structure fitting as follows:
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (24) from the nut (25).
(b) Remove the nut (25), the washer (23) and the bolt (21).
(c) Remove the fork fitting (42) and the washers (22) from the structure fitting.
