TASK 49-00-00-200-814-A
Inspection of the APU upon Odor in the Cabin/Fumes in the Cabin (APS3200) - Level A

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE APU UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
1. Reason for the Job
An hydraulic leak from the landing gear or the stabilizers and/or external oil/fuel/de-icing contamination can be at the origin of the odor in cabin if ingested at the APU inlet.

Subtask 49-00-00-790-073-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. APU air intake surrounding rear inspection
   (1) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - ULTRA-VIOLET to identify oil leaks.
   (2) Do a check for signs of external hydraulic, oil, fuel and/or de-icing fluid contamination and do an inspection of:
  • A/C fuselage from the nose landing gear to the APU inlet.
  • A/C vertical stabilizer down to the APU inlet.
  • A/C rear fairing around the APU air intake.
  • APU diverter plate.
  • APU air-intake flap.
  • APU air-intake housing internal part.
  • APU access doors.
  • APU cooling fan duct-exhaust.
     (a) If you find oil leaks on:
  • APU drain mast.
  • APU cooling fan duct-exhaust.
  • APU access doors.
1 Do the inspection of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-200-816).
     (b) If you find oil leaks on:
  • APU diverter plate.
  • APU air-intake flap.
1 Clean the A/C external contamination areas (Ref. AMM TASK 12-21-11-615-002).
     (c) If you find oil leaks on APU air-intake housing internal parts:
1 Clean the air-intake internal parts (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-790-805).
     (d) If you find fuel leaks, do the General Visual Inspection of the Fuel Tanks for Minor External Leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-210-801)
and clean the A/C external contamination areas (Ref. AMM TASK 12-21-11-615-002)
.
     (e) If you find hydraulic leaks, do a check of the external leaks of the hydraulic components (Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-790-001)
and clean the A/C external contamination areas (Ref. AMM TASK 12-21-11-615-002).
NOTE: During visual inspection, you must repair the hydraulic leakage from the landing gear.
     (f) If you find de-icing fluid contamination, do an inspection of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-200-803).
and clean the A/C external contamination areas (Ref. AMM TASK 12-21-11-615-002).
NOTE: If you operate the APU during fluid de-icing operations you could find contamination on the APU inlet and the APU compressor.
