Removal of the Fan Air Valve
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
YOU MUST NOT TOUCH HOT PARTS WITHOUT APPLICABLE GLOVES. HOT PARTS CAN CAUSE AN INJURY.

A. Removal of the Fan Air Valve (FAV)
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in the ambient conditions.
(4) Disengage the FAV actuator rod (3) from the FAV actuator (1).
(5) Remove the bolt (5), nut (8) and bushing (6) from the bracket (7).
(8) Hold the scoop (11) and remove the clamp (20).
(9) Carefully remove the scoop (11) and keep the FAV (4) in its position:
(a) Compress the scoop seal (14) when you remove the scoop (11).
(10) Carefully disengage the FAV (4) from the bleed-air precooler-exchanger cold-inlet (22) and from the pin holes (18).
(11) Remove the bolt (17), nut (15) and bonding strap (16) from the FAV (4).
(12) Carefully remove the FAV (4) with the FAV actuator rod (3).
(13) Remove and discard the seal (21).
(1) If you use the APU to energize the electrical circuits, stop the APU:
- For GTCP 36-300 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)
- For APS 3200 APU (Ref. AMM D/O 49-00-00-86)

(a) Make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the bleed-air duct system are in the ambient conditions.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNIT UNTIL IT IS SUFFICIENTLY COOL TO PREVENT BURNS WHEN YOU DO THE MAINTENANCE TASK(S).
(3) Remove the bolt (2) from the FAV actuator (1) and the FAV actuator rod (3). (4) Disengage the FAV actuator rod (3) from the FAV actuator (1).
(5) Remove the bolt (5), nut (8) and bushing (6) from the bracket (7).
NOTE: To remove the bolt (5), nut (8) and bushing (6) from the bracket (7) more easily, you can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser.
(6) Disengage the scoop rod (10) from the bracket (7). NOTE: To disengage the scoop rod (10) from the bracket (7) more easily, you can get access to the below part of the left side of the thrust reverser.
(7) Remove the bolts (13) and washers (12) from the scoop (11). (8) Hold the scoop (11) and remove the clamp (20).
(9) Carefully remove the scoop (11) and keep the FAV (4) in its position:
