B. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
Subtask 36-11-49-010-100-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(2) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
- make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the OFF legend is on),
- make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off),
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR 1(2) pushbutton switch is off,
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.
D. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser Hydraulic Control Unit
Subtask 36-11-49-010-101-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). E. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

F. Inspection of the Couplings and the Pressure Regulating Valve
(1) Make sure that the couplings (1), (3), (5), (7), (9) and (13) are loosened but are sufficiently tight to hold the ducts (2), (4) and (8) in position.
(2) Make sure that the bleed pressure regulating valve (12) is installed so that the valve points forward.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the couplings (1), (3), (5), (7), (9) and (13) are loosened but are sufficiently tight to hold the ducts (2), (4) and (8) in position.
(2) Make sure that the bleed pressure regulating valve (12) is installed so that the valve points forward.
Subtask 36-11-49-820-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjust the ducts (2), (4) and (8) to get the correct clearance. Set the length of the connecting rod assemblies (25) and (27) for the initial installation.
(1) Set the total length of the connecting rod (25) to 6.46 in. (164.0 mm).

(6) Do not cause the ducts to be stressed.

(6) Do not cause the ducts to be stressed.
NOTE: Do not lock the connecting rods locknuts at this time.
B. Do a Check of the Clearance around the Ducts, Valves and Tubes
(1) Measure the distance between the bleed pressure regulating valve (12) and the engine casing flange FJ at PPS 117.9. The distance must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
(2) Measure the distance between the HP valve (6) and the engine casing.
The distance must be 0.24 in. (6.0 mm).
(3) Measure the clearance around the ducts (2), (4) and (8). The minimum clearance around the ducts must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
Subtask 36-11-49-420-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Measure the distance between the bleed pressure regulating valve (12) and the engine casing flange FJ at PPS 117.9. The distance must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
(2) Measure the distance between the HP valve (6) and the engine casing.
The distance must be 0.24 in. (6.0 mm).
(3) Measure the clearance around the ducts (2), (4) and (8). The minimum clearance around the ducts must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
C. Torque the Couplings and Connect the Pressure Indicating Tube
(1) Torque the couplings (1), (3), (5), (7), (9) and (13).
(a) TORQUE the coupling (1) to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(b) Hit the coupling lightly in different places around the outer edge with a mallet that is not metallic.
(c) Do steps (a) and (b) again two more times.
(d) TORQUE the coupling (1) for the last time to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(e) Do steps (a) thru (d) again for the couplings (5), (7), (9), (12) and (13).
(2) Connect the pressure indicating tube (11).
(a) Hold the union (10). Connect the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to the union (10).
(b) TORQUE the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to between 145 and 135 lbf.in (1.64 and 1.53 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(c) Safety the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to the union (10) with lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
Subtask 36-11-49-220-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Torque the couplings (1), (3), (5), (7), (9) and (13).
(a) TORQUE the coupling (1) to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (b) Hit the coupling lightly in different places around the outer edge with a mallet that is not metallic.

(d) TORQUE the coupling (1) for the last time to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )

(2) Connect the pressure indicating tube (11).
(a) Hold the union (10). Connect the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to the union (10).
(b) TORQUE the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to between 145 and 135 lbf.in (1.64 and 1.53 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (c) Safety the nut of the pressure indicating tube (11) to the union (10) with lockwire (Material No.V02-126) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-40-11-911-014).
D. Do a Check of Different Clearances and of Connecting Rods
(1) Do a check again of the clearances around the ducts, valves and tubes (Ref. step B.).
(2) Do a check of the connecting rods (25) and (27).
(a) Make sure, with the use of the safety holes, that there are sufficient bearing threads engaged in the connecting rods.
Subtask 36-11-49-420-073-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do a check again of the clearances around the ducts, valves and tubes (Ref. step B.).
(2) Do a check of the connecting rods (25) and (27).
(a) Make sure, with the use of the safety holes, that there are sufficient bearing threads engaged in the connecting rods.
E. Safety the connecting rods (25) and (27).
(1) TORQUE the two nuts (29) to between 126.5 and 103.5 lbf.in (1.43 and 1.17 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Tighten and lock the connecting rod locknuts (24), (26) and (28).
5. Close-up(1) TORQUE the two nuts (29) to between 126.5 and 103.5 lbf.in (1.43 and 1.17 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (2) Tighten and lock the connecting rod locknuts (24), (26) and (28).
