Subtask 34-22-00-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do this test, make sure that the aircraft is not near magnetic materials:
  • No metal objects (no vehicles or other aircraft) in a radius of 250 ft., and
  • No buildings with magnetic materials in a radius of 600 ft.
     (a) To do this procedure, you can use a compensation base that has the approval from the authority.
   (2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (3) Do the Electronic Instrument System (EIS) start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (4) On all the Radio Management Panels (RMPs), make sure that the ON/OFF selector switch is set to the ON position.
   (5) Do the Inertial Reference (IR) alignment procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 34-10-00-860-004).
   (6) On the windshield center post, pull the standby compass support that you can retract from its housing.
4. Procedure
Subtask 34-22-00-710-050-E ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Operational Test of the Standby Compass
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the CAPT ND, read the magnetic heading value.
  • The difference between the magnetic heading values on the standby compass and the ND is not more than + or - 8°.
NOTE: If the difference between the magnetic heading values on the standby compass and the ND is more than + or - 8°: do the compensation adjustment/test of the standby compass (Ref. AMM TASK 34-22-00-730-001).
2.On the overhead panel, on ADIRS MSU panel 41VU:
  • Set the OFF/NAV/ATT selector switch related to IR1 to the OFF position.

3.On the INT LT section of overhead control and indicating panel 25VU:
On the standby compass:
  • Set the ICE IND & STBY COMPASS switch to the ICE IND & STBY COMPASS position.
  • The lighting is on.
  • You can read the compass cards from the CAPT and F/O seats.
  • Set the ICE IND & STBY COMPASS switch to the OFF position.
  • The lighting goes off.
