Subtask 32-51-41-860-051-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) On the nose wheel steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate them.
(3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(4) Make sure that the doors of the nose landing gear are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(5) Jack up the front of the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
4. Procedure(1) In the cockpit, on the panel 400VU, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear control lever.
(2) On the nose wheel steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to operate them.
(3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
(4) Make sure that the doors of the nose landing gear are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(5) Jack up the front of the aircraft (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
NOTE: In the fully extended position of the shock absorber, the NLG is automatically in the center position (the nose wheel steering is in the zero position).
Subtask 32-51-41-110-050-A
A. Preparation of the Replacement Component
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Clean the attachment hardware with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and dry with filtered compressed air.
(3) Apply a light coat of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of all the screws.
Subtask 32-51-41-820-052-A (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Clean the attachment hardware with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and dry with filtered compressed air.
(3) Apply a light coat of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) to the threads of all the screws.
B. Adjustment of the Mechanical 0° Position of the Gearbox
(1) Install the M46196-100 PLATE-MOUTING AND ADJUSTMENT on the gearbox:
(a) Loosen the screws (7) so that you can move the gearbox plate (6) in the range of the openings.
(b) Install the tool M46196-1-100 on the gearbox. To do this, put the tool shaft in the drive slot of the gearbox. The heads of the screws (7) go in the holes in the tool.
(c) Turn the assembly to install the rigging pin M46196-4.
(d) Install the pins M46196-3 in the three other holes to attach the tool M46196-1-100 to the gearbox.
Subtask 32-51-41-420-050-A (1) Install the M46196-100 PLATE-MOUTING AND ADJUSTMENT on the gearbox:
(a) Loosen the screws (7) so that you can move the gearbox plate (6) in the range of the openings.
(b) Install the tool M46196-1-100 on the gearbox. To do this, put the tool shaft in the drive slot of the gearbox. The heads of the screws (7) go in the holes in the tool.
(c) Turn the assembly to install the rigging pin M46196-4.
(d) Install the pins M46196-3 in the three other holes to attach the tool M46196-1-100 to the gearbox.
C. Installation of the Gearbox (5)
(2) Install the gearbox (5) on the gear leg.
(3) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.4 and 0.35 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.in )
to get the dimension X.
(4) Measure the dimension X:
(6) Remove the tool M46196-1-100 from the gearbox.
Subtask 32-51-41-220-051-A CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE GEARBOX, IT MUST HAVE THE TOOL M46196-100 ON IT.
(1) Make sure that the spacers (4) are installed on the gearbox (5). (2) Install the gearbox (5) on the gear leg.
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY FINAL TORQUE AT THIS TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM GIVEN TORQUE TO INSTALL THE GEAR BOX. THIS IS TO PREVENT EXCESSIVE FRICTION OF THE TEETH OF THE GEAR BOX, WHICH CAN CAUSE EXCESSIVE TEETH WEAR AND POSSIBLE VEERING OF THE AIRCRAFT.
WHEN YOU TORQUE THE BOLTS, OBEY A CROSS SEQUENCE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TIGHTENING IS SYMETRICAL.
(a) Carefully install the springs (3), the bushes (2) and the screws (1). (3) TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.4 and 0.35 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.in )
to get the dimension X. (4) Measure the dimension X:
- If X is between 0.5 mm (0.0197 in.) and 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.), the gearbox/leg engage correctly.
- If X is more than 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.), disengage the gearbox and then engage it again, TORQUE the screws (1) to between 0.4 and 0.35 m.daN (35.40 and 30.97 lbf.in )
and do a check of the dimension X.
(6) Remove the tool M46196-1-100 from the gearbox.
D. Do a check of the clearance Y:
(1) Compress the nose gear with a JACK - HYDRAULIC to disengage the centering cams.
(2) Fully turn the wheels of the NLG manually to the left to the internal stop of the nose wheel steering actuating cylinder.
(3) On the gearbox, measure the clearance Y between the internal stop of the cylinder and the planet carrier stop. The clearance Y must be equal to or more than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
(4) Fully turn the wheels of the NLG manually to the right to the internal stop of the nose wheel steering actuating cylinder.
(5) On the gearbox, measure the clearance Y between the internal stop of the cylinder and the planet carrier stop. The clearance Y must be equal to or more than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
(6) If the clearance Y is less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.), replace the gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-41-000-001).
(7) Remove the hydraulic jack to engage the centering cams of the NLG (zero position).
Subtask 32-51-41-820-050-A (1) Compress the nose gear with a JACK - HYDRAULIC to disengage the centering cams.
(2) Fully turn the wheels of the NLG manually to the left to the internal stop of the nose wheel steering actuating cylinder.
(3) On the gearbox, measure the clearance Y between the internal stop of the cylinder and the planet carrier stop. The clearance Y must be equal to or more than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
(4) Fully turn the wheels of the NLG manually to the right to the internal stop of the nose wheel steering actuating cylinder.
(5) On the gearbox, measure the clearance Y between the internal stop of the cylinder and the planet carrier stop. The clearance Y must be equal to or more than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).
(6) If the clearance Y is less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.), replace the gearbox (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-41-000-001).
(7) Remove the hydraulic jack to engage the centering cams of the NLG (zero position).
E. Adjustment of the Gearbox Plate (6)
(a) Install the rigging tool M46196-2-100 on the gearbox.

(2) With tool F26630200 ADJUSTING TOOL-NWS GEARBOX.
Subtask 32-51-41-420-051-A NOTE: You can adjust the gearbox plate (6) with tool M46196-2-100 or tool F26630200.
(1) With tool M46196-2-100. (a) Install the rigging tool M46196-2-100 on the gearbox.
- Put the stud (9) of the tool in the drive slot (8) of the gearbox plate (6).
- Install the pins M46196-3 (11) and M46196-4 (12) so that you can put the rigging tool M46196-2-100 (10) on the gearbox.
. NOTE: Make sure that the gearbox plate (6) does not move when you TORQUE the screws (7). If the gearbox plate (6) moves, the adjustment will not be correct.
(c) Remove the rigging tool M46196-2-100. (2) With tool F26630200 ADJUSTING TOOL-NWS GEARBOX.
- Do the procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-00-820-002).
F. Preparation before the Test
(1) Install the sensors 3GC (4GC) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-19-400-001).
(2) Check the voltage at the sensor 3GC (4GC) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-19-220-001).
(3) Lower the aircraft to the ground (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-001).
(4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the heads of the screws (1).
Subtask 32-51-41-720-050-A (1) Install the sensors 3GC (4GC) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-19-400-001).
(2) Check the voltage at the sensor 3GC (4GC) (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-19-220-001).
(3) Lower the aircraft to the ground (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-001).
(4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Brushable - (Material No.06ABA1) to the heads of the screws (1).
G. Functional Test
(1) Do a functional test of the nose wheel steering with the handwheel (Ref. AMM TASK 32-51-00-720-003).

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(4) Close the doors of the nose landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
