3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-33-18-861-050-A
A. Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
   (3) On right-center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position.
  • Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (4) On rudder/trim parking-brake panel 110VU, make sure that the WEDGE - NON METALLIC is installed on each side of the gravity gear extension-handle (1), to lock it in position.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the NLG doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.

D. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

4. Procedure
Subtask 32-33-18-480-050-A
A. Installation of the Rigging Pins
   (1) Make sure that the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN is installed in location PIN 1.
     (a) Make sure that the door-uplock input lever is locked.
   (2) Make sure that the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN is installed in location PIN 2.
     (a) Make sure that the bellcrank is locked.

B. Installation of the NLG Torque-Tube Assembly
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
   (2) Make sure that the surfaces of the brackets are in a good condition.
   (3) If removed, install the rear bearing assembly (2).
     (a) Put the rear bearing assembly (2) in position.
     (b) Install the bolts (3) and the nuts (1).
     (c) Tighten the nuts (1).
   (4) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Clay Thickened - (Material No.03GBB1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) on the two ends of the torque tube assembly (8).
   (5) Put the rear end of the torque tube assembly (8) in position through the rear bearing assembly (2).
   (6) Put the forward end of the torque tube assembly (8) in position through the bracket.
   (7) Put the forward bearing assembly (14) in position.
   (8) Install the bolts (9) and the nuts (10).
   (9) Tighten the nuts (10).
   (10) Install the washer (13) and the nut (12).
   (11) Tighten the nut (12).
   (12) Safety the nut (12) with a new AIPC 32-33-01-08-010 COTTER PIN (11).
   (13) If removed, put the shouldered bushings (16) and (18) in position.
   (14) Connect the rod (17) to the forward end of the torque tube assembly (8).
   (15) Install the bolt assembly (15), washer (19) and nut (21).
   (16) Tighten the nut (21).
   (17) Safety the nut (21) with a new
AIPC 32-33-01-08-010 COTTER PIN (20).
   (18) If removed, put the shouldered bushings (22) and (24) in position.
   (19) Connect the rod (23) to the rear end of the torque tube assembly (8).
   (20) Install the bolt assembly (4), washer (5) and nut (7).
   (21) Tighten the nut (7).
   (22) Safety the nut (7) with a new
AIPC 32-33-01-08-010 COTTER PIN (6).
   (23) Apply Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.
12ACB1) on the nuts (12), (10) and (1).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the 98A32301000000 RIGGING PIN from locations PIN 1 and PIN 2.
   (2) On rudder/trim parking-brake panel 110VU:
     (a) Remove the WEDGE - NON METALLIC from each side of the gravity gear extension-handle (1).

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).

C. Test
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE RIGGING PINS ARE REMOVED BEFORE OPERATION OF THE FREE FALL SYSTEM. DAMAGE WILL OCCUR IF THE RIGGING PINS ARE INSTALLED DURING SYSTEM OPERATION.
   (1) Do a functional test of the free-fall extension system (Ref. AMM TASK 32-33-00-720-004).

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the ground safety locks from the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-081-001).
   (2) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

E. De-energize the ground service network
