Removal of the NLG Free-Fall Extension Cables
WARNING:

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
(5) Install a WEDGE - NON METALLIC on each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to lock the handle in position.
Subtask 32-33-16-010-050-B (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
(5) Install a WEDGE - NON METALLIC on each side of the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle to lock the handle in position.
B. Get Access
(1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
(4) Remove the cockpit floor panels 211FF 211JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(5) Remove the floor panel 221LF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-000-001).
Subtask 32-33-16-869-052-A (1) Open the NLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that a 98D32203502000 SAFETY PIN - NLG DOOR is installed in each NLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Open the lateral avionics-compartment door 822.
(4) Remove the cockpit floor panels 211FF 211JF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-11-000-001).
(5) Remove the floor panel 221LF (Ref. AMM TASK 53-12-12-000-001).
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
Subtask 32-33-16-865-050-A (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

E. Installation of the Rigging Pins

(1) Put the 98A27801001000 RIGGING PIN in the Pin 1 position.
(2) Put the 98A27901002000 PIN-RIGGING,RUDDER CONTROL in the Pin 4 position.

Subtask 32-33-16-020-050-A
A. Removal of the NLG Free-Fall Extension Cables
(a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (8).
(b) Remove these items, the:
(d) Remove the locking clips (16) from the turnbuckles (17).
(e) Loosen the turnbuckles (17) for the cables (1) and (2) until the tension in the cables is released.
(f) On the cable(s) to be removed, continue to loosen the turnbuckle(s) (17) until the cable(s) is/are disconnected.
(g) If necessary, temporarily attach the loose cable(s) (12) and/or (14) to the adjacent structure.
(h) Release the cable(s) (1) and/or (2) from the cable pulley (3) and remove it/them from the aircraft.
(2) Remove the applicable cable(s) (12) and/or (14) as follows:
(a) Remove these items, the:
(c) Loosen the turnbuckles (17) for the cables (12) and (14) until the tension in the cables is released.
(d) On the cable(s) to be removed, continue to loosen the turnbuckle(s) until the cable(s) is/are disconnected.
(e) If necessary, temporarily attach the loose cable(s) (1) and/or (2) to the adjacent structure.
(f) Release the cable(s) (12) and/or (14) from the cable quadrant (15) on the reduction gearbox and remove it/them from the aircraft.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE NLG DOWNLOCK SAFETY PIN AND THE TWO DOOR SAFETY PINS ARE INSTALLED.
(1) Remove the applicable cable(s) (1) and/or (2) as follows: (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (8).
(b) Remove these items, the:
- nuts (9) and the washers (7)
- bolts (4) and the spacers (6)
- cable-guard (5).
(d) Remove the locking clips (16) from the turnbuckles (17).
(e) Loosen the turnbuckles (17) for the cables (1) and (2) until the tension in the cables is released.
(f) On the cable(s) to be removed, continue to loosen the turnbuckle(s) (17) until the cable(s) is/are disconnected.
(g) If necessary, temporarily attach the loose cable(s) (12) and/or (14) to the adjacent structure.
(h) Release the cable(s) (1) and/or (2) from the cable pulley (3) and remove it/them from the aircraft.
(2) Remove the applicable cable(s) (12) and/or (14) as follows:
(a) Remove these items, the:
- cotter pin (21), the nut (22) and the washer (23)
- bolts (13) and (20) and the washer (19)
- spacers (18) and the cable-guard (25).
(c) Loosen the turnbuckles (17) for the cables (12) and (14) until the tension in the cables is released.
(d) On the cable(s) to be removed, continue to loosen the turnbuckle(s) until the cable(s) is/are disconnected.
(e) If necessary, temporarily attach the loose cable(s) (1) and/or (2) to the adjacent structure.
(f) Release the cable(s) (12) and/or (14) from the cable quadrant (15) on the reduction gearbox and remove it/them from the aircraft.
