Removal of the MLG Lock Springs

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-11-19-860-060-A (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On panel 400VU:
- Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the Main gear doors.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
Subtask 32-11-19-869-051-A (1) Disconnect the isolation coupling of the PTU (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-860-001).
C. Flight Configuration Precautions
(1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.
Subtask 32-11-19-865-050-A (1) If the electrical power is not necessary for other maintenance tasks, de-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002). Then, it is not necessary to operate the LGCIU circuit breakers.
(2) If the electrical power is necessary, do the precautions for flight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-860-001) before you open the LGCIU circuit breakers.

E. Get Access
(1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Install the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE on the applicable MLG door actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone 731(741).
4. Procedure(1) Open the applicable MLG door (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Install the GROUND LOCK SLEEVE on the applicable MLG door actuating cylinder (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone 731(741).
Subtask 32-11-19-020-051-A
A. Removal of the MLG Lock Springs
(2) Remove the cotter pin (13), the nut (12) and the washer (11). Discard the nut (12) and the cotter pin (13).
(3) Adjust the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY with the driving nut (7) until the pin (2) is loose.
(5) Release the spring tension with the driving nut (7).
(6) Remove the cotter pin (20), the nut (19) and the washer (18). Discard the nut (19) and the cotter pin (20).
(7) Remove the:
(9) If the lock springs are to be replaced:
(a) Remove the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-081-001).
(b) Remove the lock springs (6) and (8) from the lock spring guide block.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LOCKSPRINGS AS THEY ARE IN TENSION.
(1) Install the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY, (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-481-001). (2) Remove the cotter pin (13), the nut (12) and the washer (11). Discard the nut (12) and the cotter pin (13).
(3) Adjust the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY with the driving nut (7) until the pin (2) is loose.
NOTE: If the spring expander tool is not correctly adjusted, it will not be possible to remove the pin (2) easily.
(4) Remove the pin (2), the washer (10), the spacer (3) and the washer (4). (5) Release the spring tension with the driving nut (7).
(6) Remove the cotter pin (20), the nut (19) and the washer (18). Discard the nut (19) and the cotter pin (20).
(7) Remove the:
- pin (15)
- lock spring (8)
- washers (17), (14) and (16)
- lock spring (6).
(9) If the lock springs are to be replaced:
(a) Remove the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-19-081-001).
(b) Remove the lock springs (6) and (8) from the lock spring guide block.
