Installation of the MLG Spring-Expander Tool
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
Subtask 32-11-19-860-063-A (1) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
(2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).
(3) On the panel 400VU:
- make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
- put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the applicable zone 733 (744).

A. Installation of the MLG Spring-Expander Tool
(2) Loosen the locknuts (2), (5), (17) and (19) and make sure that the clamps (10), (13), (8) and (15) are loose.
(3) Operate the driving nut (11) to adjust the clamp block (6) until you can install the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY.
(4) Put the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY in position on the locksprings (9) and (14), with the reaction plate (12) adjacent to the lockspring link. Install the safety pin (1).
(5) Operate the driving nut (11) until the clamp (15) is in position on the lockspring. Install the safety pins (7).
(6) If necessary, operate the screw (20) to adjust the clamp (8), until it is in the correct position on the lockspring (9). Install the safety pin (7).
(7) Adjust the studs (16) and the screws (18) to tighten the clamps (8) and (15), then tighten the locknuts (17) and (19).
(8) Adjust the stud (3) and the screws (4) to tighten the clamps (10) and (13), then tighten the locknuts (2) and (5).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LOCKSPRINGS AS THEY ARE IN TENSION.
(1) Make sure that the components of the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY are clean and in the correct condition. (2) Loosen the locknuts (2), (5), (17) and (19) and make sure that the clamps (10), (13), (8) and (15) are loose.
(3) Operate the driving nut (11) to adjust the clamp block (6) until you can install the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY.
(4) Put the 460005832 SPRING EXPANDER-MLG SIDE STAY in position on the locksprings (9) and (14), with the reaction plate (12) adjacent to the lockspring link. Install the safety pin (1).
(5) Operate the driving nut (11) until the clamp (15) is in position on the lockspring. Install the safety pins (7).
(6) If necessary, operate the screw (20) to adjust the clamp (8), until it is in the correct position on the lockspring (9). Install the safety pin (7).
(7) Adjust the studs (16) and the screws (18) to tighten the clamps (8) and (15), then tighten the locknuts (17) and (19).
(8) Adjust the stud (3) and the screws (4) to tighten the clamps (10) and (13), then tighten the locknuts (2) and (5).
NOTE: If only one lockspring is fitted then adjust the applicable clamps (8), (10), (13) and/or (15).
