Functional Test of the Rain Repellent System (with the Air Compressor)

TASK 30-45-00-720-002-A
Functional Test of the Rain Repellent System (with the Air Compressor)

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CIRCUITS IN MAINTENANCE ARE ISOLATED BEFORE YOU SUPPLY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT. UNWANTED ELECTRICAL POWER CAN BE DANGEROUS.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS RELATED TO THE WEATHER RADAR ARE OPENED, SAFETIED AND TAGGED.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY THE RAIN REPELLENT FLUID ON A DRY SURFACE.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE RAIN REPELLENT FLUID FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND FROM ALL THE OTHER SURFACES IT TOUCHES WITH SOAP AND WATER. DO THIS EACH TIME YOU APPLY THE RAIN REPELLENT FLUID.
1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: There is an alternative method for this procedure. This task gives one of the methods. For the other method, refer to the other task in this page block.
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do this task. One person does the rain repellent test and the other person cleans the windshield with water during the test.

E. Pressurization of the Rain Repellent System with the Air Compressor
WARNING: DO NOT COMPRESS THE BLOWOUT RESERVOIR ABOVE 7 BAR (101.53 PSI). THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Remove the blanking plug (1) from the top of the blowout reservoir (8).
   (2) Remove and discard the O-ring (2).
   (3) Install a new AIPC 30-45-01-04-080 O-RING (7) or AIPC 30-45-81-04-060 O-RING (7) on the reducer (6).
   (4) Install the reducer (6) together with the O-ring (7) on the blowout reservoir (8).
   (5) Connect the hose (3) of the 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM tool to the reducer (6) and the 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5).
NOTE: The 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5) is used together with the 98F30403000000 RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM.
   (6) Connect the hose (4) of the 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5) to the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY and the 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5).
   (7) Blow the compressed air with a pressure of 0.3 bar (4 psi) to the system through the blowout reservoir (8).
NOTE: We recommend that you blow the compressed air during the test to prevent the fluid in the nozzles after the test.
4. Procedure
Subtask 30-45-00-720-051-A
A. Functional Test of the Rain Repellent System
   (1) Do a check of the CAPT and the F/O nozzles to make sure that:
  • The compressed air goes out through the CAPT and the F/O nozzles:
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the WIPER section of panel 21VU (22VU):
  • Push and release the CAPT (F/O) RAIN RPLNT pushbutton switch.
  • Make sure that the rain repellent fluid flows through the CAPT (F/O) nozzle (between 0.1 and 1 second).
2.Open circuit breaker 1DB1 (1DB2).

3.On the WIPER section of panel 21VU (22VU):
  • Push and release the CAPT (F/O) RAIN RPLNT pushbutton switch.
  • Make sure that the rain repellent fluid does not flow through the nozzles.
4.Close circuit breaker 1DB1 (1DB2).

5.On the WIPER section of panel 21VU (22VU):
  • Push and release the CAPT (F/O) RAIN RPLNT pushbutton switch.
  • Make sure that the rain repellent fluid flows through the CAPT (F/O) nozzle (between 0.1 and 1 second).
  • Make sure that the compressed air removes the remaining fluid from the system.
  • Make sure that the compressed air goes out through the CAPT and the F/O nozzles.
6.Close circuit breakers 2KS1, 2KS2, 4KS1 and 4KS2.

7.On the WIPER section of panel 21VU (22VU):
  • Push and release the CAPT (F/O) RAIN RPLNT pushbutton switch.
  • The rain repellent fluid does not flow through the nozzles.
  • Only the compressed air goes out through the CAPT and the F/O nozzles.
   (2) Clean the windshield with water to remove the remaining rain repellent fluid.
   (3) After you complete the functional test of the rain repellent system, make sure that:
  • The area around the windshield is clear.
  • The windshield is clean and clear of all items.
5. Close-up
Subtask 30-45-00-080-050-A
A. Stop the Pressurization with the Air Compressor
   (1) Stop the AIR SOURCE 3 BAR (43.5 PSI) - REGULATED, FILTERED, DRY.
   (2) Disconnect the hose (4) from the pressure source and the 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5).
   (3) Disconnect the hose (3) from the reducer (6) and the 98F30403001000 RAIN REPELLENT PRES (5).
   (4) Remove the reducer (6) with the O-ring (7) from the blowout reservoir (8).
   (5) Remove and discard the O-ring (7) from the reducer (6).
   (6) Install a new AIPC 30-45-01-04-080 O-RING (2) or AIPC 30-45-81-04-060 O-RING (2) on the blanking plug (1).
   (7) Put the blanking plug (1) in position in the disconnected line end of the blowout reservoir (8).
