NOTE: The NAI duct is an interchangeable part. For the same duct, there are different part numbers with different conditions (form and color). The different part numbers stay fully interchangeable.

E. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 30-21-49-010-161-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). F. Get Access
(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 30-21-49-210-075-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Detailed Inspection of Engine Air Intake Ice Protection Ducts
(1) Clean the inspection parts and areas with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
(2) Do a detailed visual inspection of the Nacelle Anti-Ice (NAI) ducts. Use the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION, MIRROR - INSPECTION and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(a) Remove the insulation covers (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807).
(b) Examine the insulation covers. Look for cracks and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(c) Examine the connections of the upper and lower anti-ice valves to the NAI ducts.
1 Make sure that the upper and lower anti-ice valves and attaching hardware are in the correct condition.
(d) Examine the connection of the NAI sense tubes to the NAI ducts. Look for cracks, signs of leaks and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(e) Examine the NAI ducts. Look for cracks, dents, signs of leaks and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(f) Examine the connections of the NAI ducts. Look for cracks, signs of leaks and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(g) Examine the link assemblies and the attaching hardware of the NAI ducts. Look for cracks, loose or missing fasteners and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(h) Install the insulation covers (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(i) Examine the insulation cover. See sheet 8, view K of the figure.
Make sure that the drain hole is on the bottom of the cover and is open. If the drain hole is not in the correct location or is not open, replace the insulation cover (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
5. Close-up(1) Clean the inspection parts and areas with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .

(g) Examine the link assemblies and the attaching hardware of the NAI ducts. Look for cracks, loose or missing fasteners and other damage. If you find damage, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-807) and (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(h) Install the insulation covers (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-400-807).
(i) Examine the insulation cover. See sheet 8, view K of the figure.
