Alternative Operational Test for the Trouble Shooting NAI Valves


1. Reason for the Job
NOTE: With this procedure the operator can make sure that the Nacelle Anti-Ice (NAI) valves open and close correctly.
FADEC channel A controls the shutoff function of the Pressure Regulating and Shut-Off Valve (PRSOV1) (the upstream NAI valve). To do the test of PRSOV1, channel A must be in control and channel B must be disabled.
FADEC channel B controls the shutoff function of PRSOV2 (the downstream NAI valve). To do the test of PRSOV2, channel B must be in control, and channel A must be disabled.

A. Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (1) Do the EIS start procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-001).
   (2) Enter a new flight number on the MCDU (one dummy character is sufficient) to get a new PFR.
   (3) If you do the test of PRSOV1 (4010DN), follow the sequence:
   (4) If you do the test of PRSOV2 (4011DN), follow the sequence:
   (5) If you do the test of PRSOV1 (4010DN) and PRSOV2 (4011DN) (FC 2462), go to paragraph 3.D.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
NOTE: ENG 1(2) FADEC SYS FAULT and ENG 1(2) MINOR FAULT ECAM alerts are shown when you pull the FADEC channel-B circuit-breaker.
NOTE: ENG 1(2) FADEC SYS FAULT ECAM alert is shown when you pull the FADEC channel-A circuit-breaker.
   (1) Start engine 1(2) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-827) and let the throttle control lever of engine 1(2) stay in the idle stop position (zero on the graduated sector) for five minutes.
     (a) Make sure that the C/B configuration is as given above (paragraph 3.B. for PRSOV1 or paragraph 3.C. for PRSOV2).
NOTE: On the ENG SD page, the oil indication can be not shown due to the C/B configuration.
NOTE: For PRSOV1, FADEC channel A controls the shutoff function of the Pressure Regulating and Shut-Off Valve (PRSOV1) (the upstream NAI valve). To do the test of PRSOV1, channel A must be in control and channel B must be disabled.
For PRSOV2, FADEC channel B controls the shutoff function of PRSOV2 (the downstream NAI valve). To do the test of PRSOV2, channel B must be in control, and channel A must be disabled.
   (2) On the ANTI ICE section of the overhead panel 25VU:
  • Make sure that the ENG1(2) pushbutton switch is released (FAULT and ON legends are off).
4. Procedure
Subtask 30-21-00-710-071-A
A. Do this test
   (1) Increase the thrust to level 30 percent N1.
   (2) Keep that thrust level for 30 seconds.
NOTE: The ENG 1(2) ANTI ICE ECAM MEMO can come into view if PRSOV1 or PRSOV2 is failed open.
NOTE: ENG 1(2) ANTI ICE 1(2) VALVE OPEN ECAM alert comes into view if PRSOV1 and PRSOV2 are failed open.
   (3) Put the throttle control lever of engine 1(2) to the idle stop position.
   (4) Push the ENG1 (2) pushbutton switch (ON legend comes on).
   (5) Wait for 30 seconds:
NOTE: ENG 1(2) ANTI ICE 1(2) VALVE CLSD ECAM alert comes into view if PRSOV1 or PRSOV2 is failed closed.
NOTE: The procedure that follows is applicable to MCDU 1 and 2 (2 and 3).
ACTION
RESULT
On the MCDU:
  • Adjust the brightness of the MCDU screen:

  • Push the MCDU MENU mode key.
On the MCDU:
  • The MCDU MENU page comes into view.
  • Push the line key adjacent to the CFDS indication.
The CFDS MENU page comes into view.
  • Push the line key adjacent to the POST FLIGHT REP indication.
The POST FLIGHT REP page comes into view.
   (6) If one of these fault message is shown:
  • ENGXY-2450-UPSTREAM NAI VLV (OPEN)
  • ENGXY-2452-DOWNSTREAM NAI VLV (OPEN)
  • ENGXY-2462-NAI SYSTEM (OPEN),
  • ENGXY-2464-UP NAI VLV PRSOV1 (CLOSED)
  • ENGXY-2465-DOWN NAI VLV PRSOV2 (CLOSED)
do the related trouble shooting procedure.
   (7) If no PFR is available, read the last leg report (menu mode) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-815) on the two channels.
     (a) If one these fault messages is shown:
  • 2450-UPSTREAM NAI VLV (OPEN)
  • 2452-DOWNSTREAM NAI VLV (OPEN)
  • 2462-NAI SYSTEM (OPEN),
  • 2464-UP NAI VLV PRSOV1 (CLOSED)
  • 2465-DOWN NAI VLV PRSOV2 (CLOSED)
do the related trouble shooting procedure.
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Stop engine 1(2) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-829).
   (2) Do the EIS stop procedure
(Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002).
